20mb in northampton

currently on 10mb,and always get 9.8-10mb, i would like to upgrade to 20mb, but the last time i tried it,
approx 18 months ago it, i only ever got 12.5.

does anyone know if 20mb in northampton, nn4 postcode, has improved ?

edit : reason im considering is both my lodgers now use the net, one for light browsing + myself and second lodger game at the same time.

Re: 20mb in northampton

I live in NN4 and can regularly achieve 18Mbps+ downloads. I really don't check it often enough to say it never slows down to the 12Mbps level but I've never noticed it do so. I did have some issues when it was first installed a few months back but they cleared up for some reason or other.

Here is my tracert so you can check against your own..

Re: 20mb in northampton

rather than upgrading, see if you can set QOS on your router to make a certain amount of bandwidth available for your gaming PC's - eg 100k up, 1 meg down - that way you can play you games without the occasional download affecting you.

=D

Re: 20mb in northampton

Rizzla, just for info I also live in NN4 and have 20MB. I agree with kwikbreaks, usually get 18+ using speedtest.net
