V+ HD activation question?

Totally new to cable services. Thinking about signing up to VM.

I'd probably only go with the M+ tv package and notice that there is a £49 activation fee for HD and if I wanted to upgrade to a V+ HD box I would have to pay £5 extra a month with that package.

My question is, if I buy a V+ HD box from somewhere like ebay, will I be able to watch HD and use the V+ stuff (pause/rewind/record tv) without paying the £5 a month extra?

Guessing I'd have to pay the £49 HD activation either way, even if the V+ HD box had already been activated by the previous owner?

Thanks

Re: V+ HD activation question?

Nope, all set top boxes have to be provided by virgin media and remain the property of virgin media, if you buy one off ebay you are buying an expensive door stop. The additional £5 a month applies if you are not on XL TV, also you need to be on XL to get the full selection of HD channels (excluding premium Sky channels)

If you want a Virginmedia HD box that will work then click the links here and read them.

As previously posted above if you buy a box of Ebay it will not work and Virginmedia will not activate it for you, so check out the links above and do the maths.

Less of a waste than a box of Ebay though.
