No error, e-mailed ceo office prior to launch got reply saying if I sign up for 12 month contract I can have £7 discount for 6 months while they restructure VIP packgage.

Cute move by virgin, you get the hd channels for free for 6 months only on vip 20 and your tied in for 12 months. At the end of the twelve months you are either faced with a £7 increase, for 6 months, or upgrade to vip 50 for £5 and be tied in for a further twelve months from that date.
The accountants made a crafty move on this one.
Regards
John.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
I have just tried to upgrade from VIp20 to VIP50 but was told that the price is £98.75 and not £97.50.
I have also been told that the discount that I was getting for 6 months (£7 for Virgin completely chuffing up my internet when we moved next door!!) will not be applied if I upgrade to VIP50 and that the price of £89.50 is wrong as the VIP package is £92.49 and not £89.50 anyway. I pointed out the website displays £89.50 and CS said that the website hadn't been updated for a while!!
I understand the logic that it was applied to my existing package, but that sucks especially as I will be upgrading and not downgrading!
How do you lot get through to the right person to speak to?? CS were not very helpful.

No what they said was after 6 months they would have revamped the VIP packgage, so until that is completed we don,t know whether there will be a £7 increase for remainding 6 months.

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
The VIP revamp has been completed as far as I'm aware - it's the VIP 50 with the inclusive HD Bolt on
There isn't any change to the VIP bundle with 20Mbit - so if you have been give a six month reduction on that, then the bundle will return to it's original price after that period - or as close to it after the Sky SD premium price changes that are due before the end of the year

Are you on paper billing which is an extra £1.25 a month?

If true this is truly disgusting. I have emailed Diane in the CEO's office for clarity.
I was really impressed when told that the VIP was being reviewed as I thought Virgin had realised how much the discount on the package had been eroded and looked forward to it being a Very Impressive Package again. I have just read a posting on one of the forums stating:
"The VIP revamp has been completed as far as I'm aware - it's the VIP 50 with the inclusive HD Bolt on"
"There isn't any change to the VIP bundle with 20Mbit - so if you have been give a six month reduction on that, then the bundle will return to it's original price after that period - or as close to it after the Sky SD premium price changes that are due before the end of the year"
This was a from Virgin employee who is usually correct with his postings and if this is correct it is VERY,VERY disappointing, especially as people have signed up to a new 12 month contract when they will only get the HD sports & movie channels free for 6 months. It feels like a bit of a con to be honest. There is not a lot I can do about it for 12 months but if true I will be reviewing my options in 12 months time.
Can you verify or deny this statement?

Re: VIP/VIP+ New and Improved VIP Package
No it wouldn't because when people are talking about the six month discount there are talking about an extra offer that is completely seperate to the changes to the VIP 50 and/or the HD Bolt on.
It just happened to be discount the VIP bundles by the same cost as the Bolt on so obviously has been used as a way to reverse the increase for a period of time.
So if someone with VIP 50 has the the six month discount they will end up paying £90.50 (rather than £97.50) until the discount expires

I have received the following email from Diane in the CEO's office:
Hi Richard
We have not had any information about the new VIP package that is being introduced in quarter one next year, so I'm unsure to where this information has come from. The changes that have been applied to the VIP packages are whilst we review the package in its entirety.
Therefore the information you have been given has not been confirmed or discussed or finalised. We are looking in to the VIP 20 changes and will advise our customers in due course.
Kind regards
Diane
Perhaps you can tell me where you heard the info you posted Ben?

I apologise then if they are still looking at the VIP 20. All the recent information about the VIP 50 changes made no mention about any planned improvements to the VIP 20
