It seems to depend on what you are watching, but most I find is in very good quality.

You should still have a virgin email address - sign up with that & set the mailbox to forward to your gmail account.

If you are a Virginmedia customer and the account holder you ring up faults and they will provide you with your email address and a temporary password, job done.

Perhaps because the browser manufacturers cannot agree on a single codec for video support in HTML5 (Apple and Microsoft support h264, Opera and Mozilla support another). OK. Flash supports a couple but TV companies (like Virgin) know that there is a fair chance the average user has Flash available, and while Flash supports a few different codecs, they know whichever they pick will be supported by the user's browser.
I like HTML 5, and I believe that if the browser manufacturers can actually co-operate then it could become a potent force in video streaming.

Working in Ubuntu 10.04 - thanks for the heads-up about adblock plus. Once I allowed virgin and refreshed it worked. Before stuck at advertisement.

Flash 10.1.53

Re: Beta launch of Virgin Media Player
1.1 By registering for and using Player, you confirm that:
(a) you are and will remain both: (i) a Virgin Media broadband internet account holder; and (ii) either a Virgin Media TV XL or a TV Choice customer;
Sounds very ominous so I'l pass until that is cleared up.
