He needs to be on XL broadband or it will not work.

He's on the VIP pack so I think he'll be ok.

Re: Beta launch of Virgin Media Player
Hmm. I've registered and signed in and everything but nothing will play.
Hope this isn't another thing that will only work in a certain browser on a cerain OS.
Then again, it is beta. I'll try again later.

It will not play in Linux but it says that it will play in all browsers except IE6.

Which web browser can I use?
Here are all the web browsers that you can watch Virgin Media Player on.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and above (PC)
- Mozilla Firefox 3 and above (PC or Mac)
- Safari (Mac)
- Google Chrome (PC or Mac)
Unfortunately, Virgin Media Player won't work in Internet Explorer 6.
Do I need to use JavaScript?
Yes. Most browsers will already have this enabled, but do check before you try watching Virgin Media Player.

I guess I should have put my OS details, sorry about that!
I'm running Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.4) and my current browser is Firefox 3.6. Maybe I should check the system requirements.
Edit: It says it should work with Mozilla Firefox 3 and above on PC or Mac. Hmm. I'll quit and reopen again.

The beta, which will go live later today, will be open to all Virgin Media's XL TV customers who also have a broadband connection with the operator. Users will need to register for the beta on Virgin Media's website.
|
It's for XL TV customers, after all, they're just receiving the free On demand content that comes with XL TV, via broadband instead.
Working ok here with Win XP & Firefox.

I just misread it but not bothered as I can much easier watch it on the TV downstairs in comfort.
Of course you must have a Virginmedia broadband connection and a valid Virginmedia email address and password to access it as well.

Re: Beta launch of Virgin Media Player
Ahh I just thought of what might be causing the problem re me not being able to watch the Player and I was right. I forgot I installed AdBlock Plus! Probably because the icon that usually sits next to the search bar was missing. Whitelisted it and it works now.

Re: Beta launch of Virgin Media Player
Yep, looks like Adblock Plus blocks the advert it tries to load and it goes no further. Turned it off and it loaded, initially it was playing at a really low resolution but then it switched to something much higher whilst I was looking at another tab!
Working fine on a mac here too.

Re: Beta launch of Virgin Media Player
Just signed into the player and watched a bit of Mutant X using firefox, at first the picture was a little blocky in full screen , but after a few seconds the picture quality improved and became very good.
I am impressed so far and I look forward to more content being added in the near future.
