Being able to search the EPG via actor, director etc, also makes it search far more flexible. Internet streaming maybe pointless now but more and more sites will appear where you can stream more content although most of that stuff will be PPV I imagine.

I can't see all TV being streamed over the internet for a long time to come it simply isn't economical, via Cable or Satellite you can broadcast to 1 or 1 million people and the cost is the same, over the internet the more people watching a single stream means more bandwidth is required.

I Went on holiday and rented a house in the US which had Verizon Fios TV and they had TIVO hooked up I was pretty impressed with it , the Verizon FIOS internet and TV was good to.

How are they a joke of a company?

The past year at least they have been extremely successful in what they've set out to do.

VM has gone from strength to strength recently, you just seem incapable of seeing past the past and into the present.

For many. many, many reasons.

Latest one for me is they claim I haven't paid my bill even though it's been paid by direct debit and my bank have confirmed I paid it but yet Virgin say I haven't which makes them a joke in my eyes.

But this is a coming soon thread and not a virgin is a joke thread.

I would just jack them in if I were you. Staying with a company that is a total joke and you hate with a passion is bad for your health. I would have packed them in years ago if I were you.

Wasn't always this bad, just got bad when it became Virgin Media and I had jacked them in but they signed me up with a new 12 months contract anyway so I am in the middle of seeking legal advice regarding that at the moment.

Can't fault them with the internet though.

Being first to market has no impact on patent activity - it's the filing date with the Patent Office that's important, and it's always best to get it granted in the US. Then you can make pots of money form attacking any entity that infringes on your patent, settling the action, oh and then licensing it's use back to the company again.

I agree with your comments on tivo use though and think it has the potential to change the way in which TV is watched far more than the simple PVR functions we have available today.
