Question Can existing customers get the same deals as new customers?

Around 1yr ago virgin had a webpage with bubbles floating around which said that if you tell virgin about this page you can get the same offers that new customers get. Does this still apply, if so does someone have the website link?

I'm currently paying £68.69/month for XL broadband, L phone calls and XL tv which is a rip-off, its way more than new customers. New customers can get XL phone, tv and broadband for £58/month inc £11.99 phone line and £49 for a V+ HD box. I would like to get the same offer, is it possible?

I'm currently planning on getting this:

Sky+ HD: £31/month
£75 quidco makes it:
£24.75/month

Talktalk: £26.48/month: phone + upto 20mb broadband (actually 13.8mb broadband where i live) - 18 month contract
£69.99 phone line activation
£50 quidco which makes it:
£27.59/month

TOTAL: £52.34/month

The only negatives are that i lose on-demand and the the broadband is slower, the upload is faster but in 2months ish virgin's upload will be faster.

The Talktalk includes all phone calls ANYtime and also includes 0845 and 0870 numbers, all you pay for is mobile calls and international calls. Virgin's XL package doesn't include 0845 and 0870 numbers so this would save me quite a bit.

So can i get the same deal as new customers or shall i move over to sky+talktalk?

p.s what is the difference with M and M+ as some channels say only on M+ on here: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html...els/index.html

I would call Customer Relations tomorrow after 0800 on 150 and choose the option "Thinking of leaving us" and tell them what Talk Talk have offered and ask if they can beat it.

whats the point in having fast broadband nowadays if you cant download anything without being worried that youll get sued.
so for me the broadband appeal that virgin once had has now been eroded.
so price and hd content are the only thing that should concern subscribers imo.

masque, i'm already going to phone retentions tomorrow anyway, i'm just wanting to know if virgin still has the hidden policy that allows existing customers to get the same deals as new customers if they state the webpage that says it?

I work in faults so my advice is speak to retentions as you have all the ammunition required, sorry I cannot offer you any other information.

Re: Can existing customers get the same deals as new customers?

You can get any of the bundle deals that new customers can get, you just can't get the introductory discounts on it.

In your case you should be paying £50.94 for the services you say you have. It would be easier to see where you're getting overcharged if you posted a full breakdown of your bill. I'd be willing to bet your account doesn't have the right multiple service discount applied to it.

Personally I'd be looking at getting a credit for overpayment.

Re: Can existing customers get the same deals as new customers?

yeah thats the page, it looks different to last time but thats the one

here's my bill:

Can i get a refund for the £17/month extra i'm paying for XL broadband and i'm paying £1.50/month extra for XL tv and maybe other things? I'd save money being on XL phone as i had to pay £22-26 extra this month due to mobile, 0845, 0870 and non-evening and weekend calls so the non-evening and weekend calls would lower that alot.

How far back could i claim a refund for what i've been overcharged for? I've been paying £37/month for about 18 months or so for 20mb (XL) broadband? Would it be paid in 1 lump or would it be spread over several months?

You're not really paying £17 a month extra for it, the price will always be displayed as that on your bill, then the bundle saving should knock it down to the correct price.

You're only paying £9 more than the bundled price, you said in the OP you have L bb but it's actually XL, so you should be paying £59.69 (with your paper billing). Your bundle saving seems awfully low for the services you have, that's likely the issue?

Interestingly if you go up to XL phone your bundle will come out cheaper, and it would cost £59.25, but you'll still have to pay for 08xx and mobile calls (unless they're to VM mobiles).

I really don't know how much luck you'll have claiming the £9/month back, but it's always worth a try.

Re: Can existing customers get the same deals as new customers?

I just had a look on the bundle builder, for my current XL broadband, L phone and XL tv new customers get it for £59.68/month inc phone line and paper billing, i'm paying £68.69/month, can i get the extra £9/month refunded, if so how far back?

EDIT: just realised my findings are the same as yours TheDon :P

Re: Can existing customers get the same deals as new customers?

Instead of getting XL tv, broadband and phone for the £58 when i phoned retentions and told them i could get Sky's hd+ and Talktalk's TalkPlus for £50.24 after quidco they offered me XL broadband, phone and XL tv + a V+ hd box for £51.44/month + the £49 fee for the V+ hd box.

£6.55 ish cheaper than new customers get it for, i've been with virgin for 10yrs ish so i mentioned that.

Nice deal huh!
