Perhaps he's paying £20 a month extra for Emma extras. Apparently it's down to £7 now. BARGAIN

First post here but just a few observations and concerns.
Firstly if anyone's undecided about paying the extra for HD ,compare film4 and film4HD tomorrow.If you feel the difference is worth £7 then subscribe if no then don't.Film4 on SD is excellent(through v+ box) as are the sky sports channels unlike eurosport's poor quality where the difference with eurosport HD is huge, I suspect like myself,most will decide that SD on sky sports is good enough especially if you have a quality Japanese Plasma not a harsh LCD,and you're sitting more than 3 foot away from it.
I am disapointed but if i was going to shell out more i would pay for more content ie picturebox rather than marginally improved quality.
Talk of content brings me nicely to my concerns.
1.Big Red mentioned many pages back that red button services would not be ready for launch but would be ready for champions league.
As the launch date for sky sports was many moons ago are we to presume that red button sevices will only be available to HD subscribers.This will severely p me off as i've waited a long time for match choice,as i said content for me every day.
2.If there aren't enough takers for HD might VM reduce SD sky sports quality and force us on board?
3.When i first took the second box i was told that the channels available to both boxes would always be the same as it works as a network.Goalposts have clearly moved there with the £7 PER box so is this the thin end of the wedge.We my get charged separate premium subscriptions at some point in the future,who knows?

I've been following this thread today and I'm surprised at how wound up some people have become about the whole HD topic. From what I can gather there was only ever a rumour that XL and VIP customers would have HD on Premium content like Sky Sports and Sky Movies included, so there seems to be a lot of angst over rumour and speculation.

On the plus side -
- Five HD Launched the other day
- Film Four HD is launching tomorrow
- Sky Sports News HD is launching soon

All of which from what I can gather will be included in the XL / VIP packages.
We already have a wide range of other HD channels like ESPN, Living etc included.

Yes, people have a choice of whether to spend £7 on the HD versions of sports and movies, it's not as though it is a choice between having or not having the channels at all.

Lets focus on the good news and if you subscribe to movies and sports you can still watch them in SD, you don't have to pay the extra £7 if you don't want to.

Looking forward to the announcement that will hopefully be tomorrow although I'm pretty sure all the inside info on the forum is going to be correct.

My Opinion:
£7 for Sports HD pack is a bit of a rip off (and I'm a big football fan)
£7 for Movies HD pack is good value
£7 for Sports and Movies HD pack is even better value

Shame I only subscribe to Sports and in my case it is hard to justify a 10% increase in my monthly bill for 2 HD channels and lets not forget the VAT rise in January.

Oh well, I'm happy with what I've got and I wont be jumping ship over this. I'm more than happy with what VM offer me and with a few more free HD channels in the pipeline it can only get better.
