But then if you had just signed a contract with Virgin, you would have done so based on the current TV product, not what may or may not be offered in the future.

On another note if the fee turns out to be per box then could you just add the HD premium channels to 1 box.

yes, but sky sports and movies are PREMIUM channels. PREMIUM usually means there is a price involved.

People can not seriously expect VM to just give out every single channel for free, when even sky dont

VM engineer said Sky charge them per box so they got to pass down that charge to the customers.

He also said you can pre order the channels sometime this week, maybe tomorrow.

I'll just get it on one box.

Their website at the moment still states no monthly fee for ANY HD channels.

They will need to do some back tracking soon.

Yes but my problem is for the likes of us XL and VIPs if you subscribe to Sky Sports the price has not dropped for us but has for the other packages so how could they justify charging us top package payers for HD sport on top, I would be better off dropping my package to gain.

Yes but i am already paying for sky sports as a premium channel but you think its right to pay extra on top of that to watch it in HD as a XL customer

The current TV product that is being advertised whilst saying "Unlike Sky, we don't charge a monthly fee to watch HD." as well as "And there are more channels being added all the time" (both from here clearly giving the indication that any more HD channels added will also come under the banner of "we don't charge a monthly fee to watch HD". There are no terms attached to the point VM don't charge for HD, there is no subtext that states subject to change and they may in future charge, it's clear and simple, no charge for HD.

Anyone taking up a contract under the free HD campaign could VERY easily argue breach of contract based on VM then charging for HD, regardless on if it's on new channels.

Means SS3HD and SS4HD definitely not on Virgin with Sky's campaign that Sky is the only place to get all five sports channels.

I am fascinated to see how Virgin market a charge for SS1HD and SS2HD with their websites and fliers all claiming it will be at no extra cost.

UNLESS - there is a whole new pricing structure involved where sports and movies become sold on a per box basis for SD and HD - that means they can hide the HD fee within an all in box-by-box subscription?

Where have Virgin mentioned Sky Sports HD in any of their advertising or websites.

I am sure legally VM can change prices and pull this campaign to then charge for HD, but it will be completely contradictory to the advertising which is still out there.

I am sure that Sky Sports HD will be an HD channel?

Exactly my point, Yes Sky do charge Â£10 for HD pack but there is nothing hidden Â£10 for 43 HD channels not Â£7 for 12 or 2 if you just want sports

That equates to 23 pence/ channel on sky compared to VM at 58 pence/ channel.

Don't get me wrong I agree with what Ben is saying in that packages & products change, but I think that VM have cocked up big time they should have charged for HD from day 1. IMO they could stand to loose customers to sky that want the premium HD channels.
