Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I think the Spain fans were right to feel aggrieved. Holland were lucky to finish the game with 10 players. I was starting to think that I'd be embarrassed if Holland would have won it. The best team won. Sportingly and morally.

I thought Webb had a shocker. He didn't ref like he would have in a Prem game. I can only assume he was under pressure from FIFA to not send people off.
The players constantly haranguing him showed his lack of control. I'm sure millions of public park referees around the world will be suffering for sometime due to his poor performance.
Maybe he was concerned he couldn't keep track of the number of yellow card he'd issued to individuals as has happened with Prem Refs in previous finals

It says a lot about this world cup that at the end of it all, the real winner is a psychic octopus.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Anyone know who the bookies will pay out on for top goalscorer? Do they give reduced odds for each player that finished on the same goals or do they pay out on the golden shoe winner (Mueller i think it was)?

Hmm, you're probably right even though he was the golden shoe winner not the golden boot winner, i'm sure the bookies will find a way of paying out as little as possible. I'll still try and claim my winnings tomorrow though.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I always thought the golden shoe was the player with the most goals and assists and golden boot was was just top goals. Obviously i was wrong lol

I don't know why I ever thought that, it doesn't even make sense.

From BBC website:
Golden Boot Winner (5 Goals, 3 Assists) - Mueller
Golden Ball winner (Player of the Tournament) - Forlan

Hope That Helps

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
In what was a pretty dull game (mainly down to the dutch, allthough Spain didn`t play to well) i found the best bit, which made me fall about laughing was when the dutch left back headed the ball back to his keeper and it was supposedly a cool and composed touch. The replay showed he didn`t have clue where the ball was, it just hit him on the side of the head and wen`t straight to the keeper...............priceless
Well done to Spain, worthy winners in the end.

Because it was top goalscorer and not the golden boot winner they gave reduced odds for the players on the same number of goals. I think I got 1/4 odds.

Being a Celtic fan I had the misfortune to see Braafheid a few times last year. I couldn't believe he actually got playing in the World Cup final.
ffs he was kept out of the Celtic latterly by Lee Naylor.

After last night’s extra-time World Cup win for Spain, English referee Howard Webb was given an intensive eleven-to-one tutorial in quality Dutch swearing by losing finalists, the Netherlands.
Webb, who showed the losing Dutch team eight yellow cards and a red, seemed intent on preventing the Dutch players from taking the life of one of their Spanish counterparts.
The Dutch have been criticised for an overly physical approach to the game, after at one point Nigel de Jong pinned down Andres Iniesta whilst Dirk Kuyt attached electrodes to his testicles - an incident Webb deemed sufficient to warrant a yellow card.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
There's a funny thread on Red Cafe with photoshops about Arjen Robben. I can't link due to the language but google Red Cafe and the thread is called "Photoshop Arjen Robben" in General Chat.
