From this Saturday the Sky/VM deal will be fully cleared by the Irish authorities. So the HD channels should appear next week.

VM have been waiting a very long time to get these HD channels and have sold their own channels to Sky to make it happen. They will not delay a day longer than they have to to launch. So get the HDMI cables ready!

As fantastic as all this new HD news is, we desparately need bigger hard drives for the V+!!!

I had barely 2 pages worth of recordings recently and it only showed about 15 hours left available.

I assume we have to wait for the TiVO box to come out before this happens. The enemy are releasing their 1TB box so hopefully we wont be too far behind

i would love virgin to bring out centralisation recording, where all the box would need to do is save a reference, then with its superior technology, you would be able to playback in VOD and us a a viewer would be non the wiser.

I totally agree we NEED BIGGER hard drives i was the same the HD content takes up so much room on the drive it doesn't leave much room for anything else.

I'm sure this has been mentioned in one of VM's annual reports. "Cloud storage" as it's often referred to would be ideal if the streaming worked consistently well. Perhaps a combination would work more efficiently - allowing you the option to store a local copy or remote copy, or move copies between hard-drive and the cloud. There's no technical reason it can't happen - currently you're allowed to store computer files on VM's servers through the internet, which can be accessed when needed.
