dvd recorder problem

I am new to the site, not sure if this is the right section for my problem, but here it goes. I have just connected a dvd recorder to my t v. via scart and aerial, works o.k for picture, but i have a hearing problem and need subtitles and pressing the tv remote results in 'no teletexr ' and the recorder remote, no response. I have seen in recorder handbook something about subtitles not working in connection is rgb, how dot I know if it is or not. thanks for any advice.

Re: dvd recorder problem

Depending on the TV you should be able to switch the output from RGB to Composite.. Not all ports on a TV might have this option and not all TV's either.

If you specify the MAKE/MODEL of the TV we might be able to help you more, or the details should be in the manual

PS...welcome to the forum

Have you had a look at the RNID website? A useful leaflet (PDF format) can be found here:

And welcome to the forum!

Re: dvd recorder problem

My tv is a sharp, 18 months old., the recorder is a bush, I have freeview. I have now managed to find setup and configuration and I have altered the rgb setup to cbvs with a negative result. When I press setup there should be an option on or off displayed, but it is just a blue band at the top of the screen. Thanks Kymmy.
