That list should come true, cause we know were getting Sky Sports 1 and 2 HD. Also the Sky movie channels in HD. The rumours are that were getting ESPNA HD aswell.

You sure dude? Don't V+ boxes have the eight day guide for the PVR? I take it that you're also saying that V HD (totally nonplussed) boxes don't have it either.

Aylesbury switched of analogue over a year ago and we got some extra streams and channels soon after.

Too many regional variations, too many boxes, too many firmware/software versions counting channels too many ways and two (one too many) EPGs.

I'm sure that economies of scale will dictate, maybe by next year, that two boxes (one PVR, one non-PVR) both HD capable will be all that's offered in future. Indeed one box supplied with/without a hard drive and remotely configured (to prevent the adventurous from fitting their own hard drive) could do the lot.

Well, until the TiVo/VM hybrid box is released, that is.

Legacy boxes will be phased out or fizzle out if they overheat.

I'm guessing the staff is not informed about ways to view cable TV other than a VM supplied set-top-box.

It was clear that the screen shot was from viewing software on a PC. It was probably only able to see Five HD because it's a free-to-air channel.

If you look at the bottom it does say 'Five HD (Nagra)' though

I know that NME Radio is to close soon on Digital TV and DAB Radio so I have been keeping an eye on Channel 975. And since about 1pm today I have seen that NME Radio is not broadcasting on Virgin.

All other networks is still broadcasting NME Radio.

I guess the NME's target audience is internet and mobile based rather than traditional cable, satellite and terrestrial (DAB) listeners.

Oh yeah, I had seen that alright and the check boxes in the right-hand panel were for TV, FTA and Scrambled. I knew I should have said free-to-view and not free-to-air. In fact I was going to add 'but they must be using a viewing card' to the post but submitted it prematurely as I had too many windows open and didn't want to lose any partially composed posts by accident.

There's no SD V+ box, all V+ boxes are HD capable. V+ and V+ HD are one and the same. There's only one manufacturer of V-HD at present, which is Cisco.

A couple of years ago we had a big debate on here about what 'in the autumn' meant and which months constituted autumn. When the first leaf turned brown in their garden some people expected new channels to appear. More recently we've had criticism of posts saying 'by the end of the year' or the 'by mid-June' etc. Basically, it's coming soon ...

Good, that's one less combination to worry about. They're not one and the same though, are they? There are the older V+ boxes and the new V+ HD box that they were giving away until the end of June.

V+ and V+ HD are the same thing. There are two models as you rightly say, the older Scietific Atlanta box, and the newer Samsung box - both of which do HD. They are only different in a way that an old Pace V box is different from an old Samsung V Box. They do the same thing, just one is slower!

The V+HD is either a Samsung or SA. Both are still being installed and just the same with the older SD boxes there is no guarantee which one you get
