If so I've read it twice, and seen the film.

I'm half way through "The Day after Roswell - Col. Philip J. Corso. (Ret.)"
Sorry, it was a mistype - it's Free Fall, not Freefall; it's one of Robert Crais' Elvis Cole series.

"The Fuller Memorandum", by Charles Stross. It's the third book in his excellent "Laundry" series.

Agreed, I hope Stephenie Meyer decides to continue with 'Midnight Sun' which is a retelling of Twilight from Edward's perspective.

I read the first 12 chapters which she released on her website after someone had leaked a version, and hope she decides to continue and finish the book.

Re: What are you reading?

Stuff (not the word on the book title) My Dad Says - Justin Halpern

And the rest of my holiday reading has arrived from Amazon (don't forget to use the CF click-thru), so I have put them in the spare bedroom with the other books I am taking away, so I am not tempted....

The Fuller Memorandum - Charles Stross
What The Dog Saw - Malcolm Gladwell
Plague Year - Jeff Carlson
Super Freakenomics - Steven D Levitt & Stephen J Dubner
The Mammoth Book of Apocalyptic SF - edited by Mike Ashley
Ice, Iron and Gold - S M Stirling
Veteran - Gavin Smith
Enduring Love - Ian McEwan

To go with
The Mammoth Book Of Alternate Histories - edited by Ian Watson & Ian Whates
Free Fall / Indigo Slam - Robert Crais (two books in one omnibus edition)
The Gone-Away World - Nick Harkaway
On The Oceans Of Eternity - S M Stirling

Those and a couple of magazines (Focus, Economist, New Scientist, et al) should keep me entertained/amused whilst I am away.

Armed Police: The Police use of firearms since 1945

Maybe not the most riveting of reads but should be mandatory before anyone is allowed to comment on any Police firearms operations on websites.

Re: What are you reading?

Lustrum - Robert Harris

Sequel to Imperium

Never thought Roman politics could be so gripping!

Pompeii by the same author is less politics, more mystery/thriller...

I read (and re-read) those years ago - I loved the first two, but thought the third and fourth got a bit rambling and self-indulgent (imho).

Started it last night... and finished it last night (well, this morning).

Read the whole thing in one sitting, & ended up going to bed at 5am (despite having to get up for work at 8am today ).

Great read.
