No. Those are display (video) drivers. Different beast entirely.
Within the system32 folder there should be another folder called drivers. That's where to look.

Re: running in safe mode so much quicker
Try right clicking on nvm60x32.sys select cut and then paste it to the desktop (you should get a UAC prompt about it). This way if needed you can just drag and drop it back into the system32/drivers folder.
Reboot and see if that helps.
One other thing, if you go into Device Manager and select View->Show Hidden Devices, do any of the Network related ones have a cross, question or exclamation mark next to them?

Re: running in safe mode so much quicker
Actually it looks like you could be using the Microsoft driver as the date is 2006. You can check by right clicking it in device manager and selecting properties then driver. The driver provider should be listed there.

No mate they dont but I know the last time I tried to fix this, I did end up with a yellow exclamation next to the #2 which said device unable to start properly. I'll try that driver now thanks
edit: yep it says microsoft 2006, I know it never used to say #2 so I think its something I have messed up, I think it only happened after a fresh install of vista and I tried updating the drivers to the nvidia ones from their website, since then Ive been uninstalling and trying again but to no avail

Re: running in safe mode so much quicker
Maybe something we could try is setting up a static IP for that network card. First off what type of router do you have? (the address will be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 probably) If you need to find out you can run ipconfig /all from a cmd prompt while connected wirelessly and the default gateway IP address is it.
Now go to Control Panel->Network and sharing centre->Click on Change Adapter settings then right on the nvidia adapter and select properties.
Now highlight TCP/IPv4 and select properties.
This is where it becomes tricky. You need to select an IP which is related to your Router and the default gateway is the Router IP address (192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1) if you haven`t changed it.
In the example picture the IP address is 192.168.0.125 and the Gateway (Router) is 192.168.0.1. Yours may need .1.1 depending on the router.
The DNS servers are Virgins.
Click OK and try connecting.

When doing this make sure you are running as administrator. Easiest way is to type "devmgmt.msc" in the search, right click and select "Run as administrator"

Re: running in safe mode so much quicker
You aint getting ahead Im just lagging behind
Right I ran as admin, now got the attached pic. Im going to have to double check the DNS I cant remember if I put opendns in my router settings, can I leave that as auto? I got a slight reprieve on keeping the laptop on the proviso I clean the fishtank lol women
i have noticed theres no #2 listed on the details, do you think I need to try direct from nvidia? Like I say though Im not sure if thats how all this started or if I installed the wrong one, I was 100% which driver/network adaptor to pick

Re: running in safe mode so much quicker
I'm beginning to suspect a hardware failure on the network card.
Do you by any chance have a spare NIC card available?

Nope I thought the same but it worked before I messed about with stuff, I wont rule it out though. I really need to buy a new cpu for my PC I hate laptops, I damaged the pins on that when I took it out to clean the fan. You wouldnt think I built PC's when I left school, Ive turned in to a technical disaster lately

Re: running in safe mode so much quicker
It's a shame you're so far from Lincolnshire. You need a hands-on PC guy and I desperately need an old boiler serviced..
Such is life...

Re: running in safe mode so much quicker
It does sound like a failure
Possible other option is to download Software Information 4 Windows form http://www.gtopala.com/ (the green Download SIW) which gives comprehensive information on your computer.
Run it and look at the Hardware->Motherboard+Network Adapters and we may be able to try a different driver.
