Did you see the picture? It was a joke regarding the placing of the sign over one with "Don't do it" still clearly visible.

And I posted it at 11:21am.

You can't stop dictators with another dictator. All you get is another despot. How can the democratic process be fairly served by relying on an unelected monarch?

Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll

Cameron to make a statement at 2.30pm, aiming to make a "strong and stable Government" - but Liebour is offering Clegg PR, albeit their dreadful, not-really-PR AV system.

They can't offer it though. They don't have enough seats.

Because, if it comes to the crunch, if the electorate haven't been decisive and the politicians can't work things out, she is the only truly impartial person in the entire country. That is what she has been brought up to be, if not from the day she was born then from the day her uncle Edward abdicated and placed her in direct line to the throne.

I wouldn't swap our constitutional monarchy for any elected president, anywhere in the world, right now.

Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll

Cameron needs to just take the initiative. Why not offer reform for the house of lords, an elected 2nd chamber?

Impartial my butt. The most elitist person in the nation, having to chose which is the most elitist party in parliament; hmm.....can't imagine where her sympathies lay.

I thought he had strongly ruled that out during this whole campaign. Can't see Clegg trusting him on that now.

Also I felt that NC would side with whatever party had the most votes regardless of whom they were.

If all you have to base your view on is naked class prejudice, there isn't really any basis for a reasonable discussion here. Especially on the non-issue of republicanism for the UK.

BTW, some of the BBC correspondents are machines. Andrew Neil, Jeremy Paxman have been going all night and not a hair out of place.

Earth calling moonbase, Earth calling moonbase ... that is exactly what's going to happen over the next couple of years. And it was always going to happen, regardless of which party gets No.10 today. That has been abundantly clear for months now: how have you managed to miss it?

My council tax always goes up.

And its not that people don't want GB or DC, but that its so tight. I just wish we could have a run-off.

Moonbase calling Earth, Moonbase calling Earth ... under Labour my town has been run without problems, and when the Tories run this town the words "Can't organise a P'up in a brewey" come to mind.

You could be imagining wrong. The Queen is not allowed to express any political views. I also believe that she no longer has any real power apart from one. She can (under certain circumstances) dissolve the government and force an emergency general election. I believe this is probably what Chris was referring to when he said she was a stop gap.

Having said that, I vaguely remember reading somewhere she is actually a Labour supporter in private. If the rumours are correct, she certainly did not like Margaret Thatcher.
