No, we don't - the Queen can do that all by herself. It's highly unlikely that she will need to though, a bit of horse trading should sort it out before Her Maj has to think about rolling up her sleeves.

I see Scotland did as Scotland does ... watch which way England's going, then jump in the opposite direction. No change in seats, and an improvement in Labour's share since 2005.

Cue five years of Wee Eck the Smug whingeing about Scotland being governed by an 'English' party.

One of the problems seems that because of the high turnout polling station ran out of ballot papers.

15 hours is absolutely tonnes of time. It has worked that way for decades and there is no reason why it couldn't have worked this time.

Doubtless there were cock ups, and heads should roll, however it turned out last night that the Angry Old Woman the Beeb interviewed - and replayed endlessly for the next 3-4 hours - had gone down to he local polling station at 6pm and didn't fancy the queue. She went home, had another look at the queue at 7, 8 and 9pm, and only thought it might be a good idea to join the line at 9.15pm. Surprise, surprise, the door was slammed in her face at 10pm, as legally it must be.

Officially, that is. The results in so far mean it is now mathematically impossible for any party to get an outright majority.

Ofcourse 15 hours is plenty of time, it has worked before, or are we seeing cuts even in the resources at the polling stations?
That can be one of the reasons why 15 hours was not enough to process people wanting to vote.
Anyway, Gawd should now do the right thing, he was not even democratically elected, he should resign and go for a pint with his friend Nick

my understanding is minimal but the Liberals aint really got enough to form a coalition with Labour have they? even with their seats it wont take Labour to 326 or does a coalition just need more seats than the other party?

As I understand it that's pretty spot on. As long as the coalition has the 326 they 'win'. There are still some seats to be declared so I think we're still waiting. If no-one gets that figure I guess we'll have a re-vote.
