Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
Late voter surge. Dimbleby saying of one polling station which ran out of ballot papers! Some had people queueing for hours, only to be turned away bang on 10pm. Others let people vote after 10pm so long as they were already in the queue.

Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
Some polling stations reportedly ran out of ballot papers, some stayed open beyond 10pm, some slammed the door closed at 10pm.

On the one hand, I wonder why didn't they turn up earlier.
However, some people were apparently queueing for up to three hours, so you can't blame them for being late to the polling station. It's also not the fault of voters if the polling station runs out of ballot papers, or only has one person handing ballot papers out, etc. One news item mentioned somewhere (Sheffield?) where lots of students were trying to vote, without polling cards, which then slowed it down for everyone else, causing people who did have polling cards to lose their chance to vote due to the delays.

We might not know for ages, we can get a good idea when we have a better idea of the national swing in a few hours time.

Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
I received a phone call tonight around 6:20pm from one political party reminding me if I had voted, I replied that I had already voted. Could the late queues be because those people have received similar calls?

Its a bit ridiculous that the polls are open for 15 hours and everyone turns up in the last 30 minutes and then get ****ed off when the polls close without their votes.

Re: 2010 General Election: The Cable Forum Exit Poll
BBC coverage is great fun. David Dimbleby is genuinely angry about the voting issue.
