Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
Im not really sure i like it to be honest.
Why do it so it goes right across the screen like that? why can Virgin do it like the HD epg on Sky?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
Having watched the video I really hope that's an incredibly early place holder design. If not, Virgin seriously need to get some UI designers in to show them how things should be done. It still looks like something from the 8-bit era.
Good interface design is not hard to find now, all Virgin need do is buy an Xbox 360 or an Apple product. Heck even the PS3's basic store front makes the Virgin stuff look weak by comparison.

At least it is using all the screen real estate and not just the 4:3 area. Also it is only one section the TV Guide may be different. Also most EPGs have had the same boring layout for years it is nice to see something that is different.

How is it different when that style has been used many times before?

What mainstream products have used that, I have been a cable subscriber for over 12 years and the only place I have seen stuff like is in XBMC? It is only kind of sort of used in the Virgin Central which I always thought really nice.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
General Election 2010 in HD on Virgin Media.
We may miss out on the General Election Results coming in on Thursday night in HD with Sky News.
But the BBC (And maybe even ITV1) will be broadcasting on General Election Results show LIVE on BBC HD from 21.55 on Thursday night.

I used it in one of those internet tv boxes years ago, it used on a fair few websites and to a lesser extent it's used on the ipod and also on the horrendous xbmc.
Personally I hate it but then I often hate change

For the new boxes, V HD and the boxes they will be releasing at the back end of this year, they will be using the TiVO software, for the rest of the Virgin boxes they will probably use their existing software provider for them.

so lets recap !!!
if you have a new V HD box currently or in the future then you will get a software upgrade to allow the new TiVO EPG to work.
if you have a V+ box that you paid a premium to be installed (in some cases up to £150) you get a choice to stay with the old EPG and system, pay another premium to get a TiVO PVR or take a downgrade to the V HD box.
dont get me wrong but it seems out of order to screw the guys again who already paid a premium to get the V+ PVR box in the first place.
VM need to stop all this splitting of the customer bases as its totally stupid. look at the hasstle with the NGTV roll out to standardise the customers and then go and split it again. it seems a silly move to me and to roll over the prmium customers is an even dafter move.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
Pretty much, though they have only said they might choose to put the TiVO EPG on the V HD box
