Re: Women blamed for Earthquakes!
You hear the exact same argument in Saudi that women are the downfall of men, these morons place zero responsibility on men its purely the womans fault if anything should happen to her...she inflamed the male.
Don't men have any restraint in these two backwards countries? Its yet another example of how women are treated as second class citizens in these countries.
Any where else in the world this cleric would be given psychiatric help, not listened to with respect.

I have to both agree, and disagree with you frogstamper.... Delusional ranting such as is presented by Mr Hojjat ol-eslam Kazem Sediqi, is not limited to insane old men in Saudi, Iran and other Islamic countries where the god-squad rule with ignorance, brianwashing and fear.... One only need to listen to delusional retards like Jerry Falwell et al....

Not surprising seeing that most religions oppress the female.

Well.... I guess the geographers and geologists are now out of business. Earthquakes caused by slutty women and sexually repressed blokes. So much for that plate tectonics theory....
I have to say, reading crap like the above does reinforce the view that religion isn't too far removed from mental illness. Mr Hojjat ol-eslam Kazem Sediqi certainly seems to be utterly delusional, and have little grasp on reality....

definately agree 100% and if i were MI5 or CIA i'd be keeping a very close eye on him, this type of religious fanatic can be very dangerous

Time for a Boobquake.
On Monday, April 26th, I will wear the most cleavage-showing shirt I own. Yes, the one usually reserved for a night on the town. I encourage other female skeptics to join me and embrace the supposed supernatural power of their breasts. Or short shorts, if that's your preferred form of immodesty. With the power of our scandalous bodies combined, we should surely produce an earthquake. If not, I'm sure Sedighi can come up with a rational explanation for why the ground didn't rumble. And if we really get through to him, maybe it'll be one involving plate tectonics.

Re: Women blamed for Earthquakes!
We could all be walking around wearing burkhas and this nut job would insist that everything was our fault.

Agreed, these fools certainly aren't exclusively based in the Middle East, I believe it was Pat Robertson who recently blamed the Haitian earthquake on the citizens of Haiti for allegedly making a deal with the devil to get rid of the French.
What I find really distasteful about these so called religious experts in Iran and Saudi is their respective governments totally supine attitude to these morons, nobody is allowed or even dares to question their medieval attitudes because they are seen as "gods messengers" on Earth, so they can peddle their misogynist rubbish and answer to nobody...how can any society expect to prosper and evolve under these conditions?
At least in a democracy the likes of Falwell and Robertson are held up to public scrutiny and debate, and when they come out with the sort of rubbish posted above, public ridicule.

Well, the state of play in places like Saudi and Iran are the consequences of either a theocratic leadership, with civil govenrment tacked onto the ass. Or as you have in Saudi, a weird mix of theocracy and monarchy, that are interdependant on one another. Both countries have their own religious police, and as a consequence, both countries are a boiling mess of discontent....
As to those excreable evangelical ass-hats in the US.... As Mr Christopher Hitchens put it so elloquently. Put Reverend or Father infront of a delusional, maniacs name and watch them become rich and infulencial....

Re: Women blamed for Earthquakes!
Sadly though there are very many sane and sensible Imams who are smeared by association and comparison to such nut jobs. In fact this is a tendency in all religious communities.

On the positive side Maggy even the Daily Hate are having trouble dredging up an iman like the one in question in any British mosques, and I doubt very much its not for the want of trying, surely a great sign.

If thats the case, the Daily Mail needs to sack its incompitent reporters and buy some new one's.... One only needs to cast one's mind beck to the Dispatches program, where reporters went undercover in British mosque's and recorded Imam's verbally urinating on everything they didn't agree with.... Including, I may add, the western idea of sexual equality. IIRC, and I hope someone will try hard to proove me wrong. One Imam was of the opinion that no matter how intelligent, well educated and how good a job a woman had. She would never be equal to a man, as she still menstrates.... As I said elsewhere, religion verges on delusion.
