Fair dos, Clegg did do very well and Brown did very ... meh. However whether there's a big impact on the election or not, who knows? We will need to see the viewing figures to get some idea of how influential this has been.

Well Clegg 'won' but Cameron has probably increased his led because of how bad Brown was. I expect to see bumps for both the Tories and Lib Dem.

The Sky poll had Cameron at 53% at one point, dunno what's going on there.

I think the Sky poll was a minute-by-minute rolling moodometer thingy, going up and down as people voted during the debate.

Good idea - maybe kick off week 3 at the end of next week's debate?

Alan Johnson's making a complete arse of himself on Newsnight at the moment, valiantly claiming that Gord 'won' the debate 'on substance'.

You know things are bad when they are trying to redefine the nature of winning...

We could try that, but I think if this debate has made any deep, significant changes in people's views, then that will still be evident next Thursday morning. If we switch the poll just in time to catch the end of the next debate we may simply get knee-jerk reactions.

However - we could have a separate thread/poll, open for 24 hours or so, purely for people to indicate what they thought of the debate? Thoughts?

I like this, your right that the polls in the aftermath of the debates might skew the results slightly. A debate topic and poll might be a good idea, as long as it doesn't become too confusing.

Re: The 2010 General Election Thread: Week 2

Anyone else notice that Brown started answering the health question with his prepared spin on care of the elderly
Clegg clearly above the others but unfortunately unless we get a hung parliament and a forced change in the voting system, my vote will never be taken into consideration.

Re: The 2010 General Election Thread: Week 2

Last thought before I nod off. I obviously support the Liberal Democrats and hence will say this; I thought Clegg won the debate. I think Cameron has improved his chances of getting a majority rather than a hung parliament.

I think the best moment was Brown's attempt to cosy up with Clegg and try and get them to team up against Cameron as friends of 'new politics', Clegg brushed this away and slammed Brown for not supporting such reforms before. He also did this to Cameron but it didn't hurt them as much because Cameron avoided presenting himself as a reformer in the way Brown tried to do and the Tories are not in power.

It has Clegg on 41%, Brown on 32% and Cameron on 27% after 90 minutes.

Re: The 2010 General Election Thread: Week 2

OK, head on over to this thread to vote on the debate:

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/20...bate-itv1.html

Please don't transfer your election discussion to that thread though, it's really only there to allow a poll on the debate to be run.
