You're grasping again, but then that's what Labour is doing in the media as well so it's probably not surprising.

UKIP and the BNP are essentially single-interest pressure groups. They have fleshed out their manifestos because this is a national election and they are bound to be asked what their programme for government would be. It is hardly the Tories' fault that the BNP and UKIP believe there's an overlap in the beliefs of their target voter groups.

To attempt to smear the Tories by such association is merely grubby and negative. As others have observed in the past few days, what does it say about Labour and its supporters that it is so desperate to campaign on the alleged failings of its opponents and so reluctant to talk about its own supposed successes of the past 13 years?

Re: The 2010 General Election Thread: Week 2

He's mucked his link up. He thinks he has a link to his VFP results on his clipboard but he doesn't. It's a link to our Current Affairs forum.

Hang on a sec, I think I can find the right link in the post edit history ...

... and that should be fixed now. I think Stu's perturbed by his greenness.

HEADS UP ... Leaders' debate starts on ITV1 in under 10 minutes. I expect this thread to be very quiet until it's over. Then we can tear them all to shreds.

Can't find a bookies offering odds on a fight between Brown and Cameron.

I was.. I was also slightly surprised that either my Browser or the forum software were so determined to mess up the URL.. I copied and pasted from the URL bar on their site..

Re: The 2010 General Election Thread: Week 2

Well, I listened to yesterdays Vote Now show (a special series from the Now Show team), and I like the way the comedian described the three leaders:

Gordon Brown: Speaks like he gets angry and has to let it out before his brain has had a chance to form the words.

David Cameron: Seems a nice man, but looks disturbingly like he's wearing a David Cameron mask.

Nick Clegg: Seems a nice man, but looks disturbingly like he's wearing a David Cameron mask.

They know the production team will have made them leave their mobiles away from the stage.

DC and NC seem to be doing OK, GB is a bit anonymous right now.

Brown really is slipping. Waited a whole 25 minutes before mentioning Lord Ashcroft.

That was good line though, first one so far.

He isn't doing too bad, none of them are. Cameron is not as active as I expected and Nick Glegg is actually doing a good job of making sure he isn't the third wheel in the debate.

Clegg is running away with it (on electoral reform anyway)

This is pretty good! They getting into it, Cameron almost got angry at Glegg! Brown has faded away a bit.

Re: The 2010 General Election Thread: Week 2

seems like more of a Q&A than a debate and a chance to do a bit of electioneering ,i want to hear some cutting questions not the ones they expect to be asked

It's close enough that everyone is going to think the party that want to win is winning. He is doing well though!

Brown keeps saying Clegg supports him. You can see where Brown sees support should there be a hung parliament.
