EPG times not updated
Tonight because of football extra time ITV1 Coronation Street and Foyles war started 15 minutes later than the advertised time. I had set these to record earlier using the V+box. However Virgin had not adjusted the start times of the programs so my recording started at the original time thus missing the first and last 15 minutes. Why can't Virgin correct the times or delay start as used to be possible in the analogue days.

We didn't have EPG's in the analogue days ???
A dynamic EPG is what you are mean... this is something that will probably be implemented once TIVO is on board

Re: EPG times not updated
my mistake thinking we had EPG in the analogue days. When I used to record via a DVD recorder there was a thing called PDC which adjusted for program time changes. That is what I was getting confused with. My DVD recorder isn't digital so is now no use. Anyhow thanks for your reply.

Re: EPG times not updated
What i find annoying with V+ is the amount of times i record something when there havn't been any time changes and when watching it back it stops just before the end for example, watching Masterchef " the person going through to the semi final is" and then the recording stops so i had to then go online to find out who went through lol

Re: EPG times not updated
That's why i always put some padding on programs, the Sky+ HD has an "Auto" setting on the Padding and it usually works quite well

I have found that if you set the V+ to allow 5 minutes either side the about 95% of the time your recordings will be fine. If it a sport event that i am recording i also record the following program to ensure that if it over runs then you should get the complete match etc.

Padding is dropped if you have programmes due to record straight after... the BBC and ITV are the worst for not sticking to schedules, just to try and get viewers to stay on their channel.

Foyles war is available to watch on ITV PLAYER, just go to "catch up TV" on virgin media.

Re: EPG times not updated
I'm getting annoyed with missing the end of Live broadcasts, even with the overrun set to the maximum of 10 minutes. So far every NBA Playoff game recording on ESPN has ended before the actual game is over. When it's a blowout game it's not so bad, but the outcome of quite a few games has been decided in the last minute of play, which is missed even with the 10 minute overrun. It's very annoying spending over two hours watching something to then not see the final result. I may as well save my time and just watch the highlights on NBA.com. Being as this has happened for every game, why can't ESPN increase the programme's planner slot or VM give us additional overrun options beyond 10 minutes, perhaps up to 30 minutes. I'm going to have to add the next programme into the planner to ensure I don't miss the end of games.

Re: EPG times not updated
You could always try a manual recording - it's what I did with the Superbowl on our V+

Yes as manual recording is best for live events like that.
