Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
Just thought i will stick my penny worth in on quality, BBC HD naff especially for football you can see the difference compared to Sky Sports & ESPN, ESPN OK for HD on Sky. The best ever so far for HD is the crystal clear true HD on Rush HD. Don't know about VM service much for HD as i am waiting for more content.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
I tell you what do need to get is Sky movies in HD. I think the SD version we get is so soft and lacks detail. It got worst I think when they introduced the PIN protection facility, to be honest I know its good that we can watch 15 and 18 films during the day, but it was obviously at the expense of the PQ.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
The Adult previews on Channel 470 have been temp removed due to a technical issue.
This is reason that Virgin have suspended the other preview screens in VOD.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
CBS Channels on Virgin Media.
The following is an email from CBS/Zonemedia.
Quote:
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.
Whilst we would very much like all our channels to be available on the Virgin Media platform but sadly we have no control over this.
Virgin Media manage the number of channels that are available to their customers.
If you are a Virgin Media customer, maybe you could suggest that they carry our other channels?
Virgin Media has a contacts page on their website http://www.virginmedia.com/customers.../customers.php
Ultimately we imagine customer requests direct to Virgin Media are more likely to result in more of our channels being carried.

Sorry but the PIN protection is totally separate from the actual broadcast stream and has absolutely no effect on the picture quality.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
That might be so but i distinctly remember the picture quality deteriorated dramatically when the PIN service came in. I always used to think that the Sky movie channels had the best picture quality of them. Having said that since sky basics have come back the picture quality on those has been rubbish.
I wonder if it is just VM really scrimping on the bandwidth.

Slightly off topic but I thought Dr Who on the BBC HD looked amazing.

don't forget awhile ago VM used to take a landline feed of the Sky channels and then they changed this to coming down the satelite due to costs and the picture went a lot worse on those channels. Not sure if this was the same time

I doubt VM would show premium channels on low bandwith... they are handled in Luxembourg now though, don't know if that has made any difference?

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
I personally think that all the quality on the sky channels are poor. (movies, sport, and sky 1)
If you are near the tv you can see the poor bit rate used on all the channels.
