D-Link-615 invisable

Bit of a strange one,
the d-link router that virgin supplied seems to be invisable to certain wireless cards, been trying to set up my brother inlaws laptop with the router that virgin sent him, i've got an internet connection on the router as i can see the router from my phone and surf the net with it,
also my laptop connects to it no problems but i cannot even see the router on a wireless connection via my brother inlaws laptop, i've updated all his drivers but it wont find the router, yet if i plug in a wireless usb stick it finds the router straight away???

any ideas

his wireless card is a Prism 802.11g wireless

Ok thanks i will give that a go, but i'm pretty sure it's not that as my wireless card in my laptop is only b/g and that picks it up fine, but it is worth checking just in case

Re: D-Link-615 invisable

Have you got any cordless phones situated near the D-Link?

Had a laptop a bit ago that wouldn`t connect to our router (it would connect to next doors Netgear though), after some googling i found it could be wireless interference which effects older cards. Unplugged the nearby phone and bingo!

p.s. I tried changing channels but it didn`t matter.

right tried that but still nothing, i have found a work around for the time being, a little usb wireless stick i bought off ebay for 99p see's the connection and connects first time, it's really strange as the inbuilt wireless card finds and can connect to other routers nearby just not the one it's sitting next too

Re: D-Link-615 invisable

Is the lappy running an older version of XP by any chance? Read somewhere that SP3 is needed to support wireless N with some cards.
