Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
I'd like to thank Tony Mowbray for being so useless and making sure that Rangers loss last night wasn't dwelt upon by the media.

I have to say that I rated Mowbray, I can't understand what has happened at Celtic!

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
So there I was, 10:40am. Waiting on the Arsenal Membership Site sitting in a virtual queue to buy Arsenal vs Barcelona tickets and at 11:20 I was in!. Quite a lot of yellow areas, indicting low amount of seats available. No worries! I got mine sitting at about the half-way line, Upper Tier, a few rows back. Great Seat!
So I filled in my card details, then came the VISA protection thing and then BAM Firefox crashed just after submission and did not process my order. By the time I got though the queue again they had sold out.

Stupid pile of Rubbish.

See no one would believe me, l said when Mowbray went to Celtic, he was the wrong guy.
Celtic are a big club, and deserve a big name, and Mowbray wasn't it, don't forget, he managed WBA and they got relegated, he is useless.

Don't worry, you can watch Messi tear you apart on TV instead of paying £50 for the pleasure

Typical United Fan. Arsenal are quite capable of screwing games up all by themselves without help from Messi Thank you very much.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
A few of the many reasons why i love German football and why the Bundesliga is the most attended league in Europe:
Quote:
Manchester United's Champions League quarter-final at Bayern Munich on Tuesday is not only an on-field contest between two of Europe's great clubs - it also represents a clash of two very different financial philosophies.
While at United the talk is of takeovers, Bayern supporters are safe in the knowledge that such a scenario is unlikely to ever unfold at the Allianz Arena.
The system by which Bundesliga clubs are regulated, with an emphasis on strict financial rules and licensing, means Bayern are debt-free, allowing the club to offer some tickets for as little as 12 euros (£11) in a world-class stadium.
That is a world apart from the Premier League model of light-touch regulation that has allowed the United States-based Glazers to saddle United with debts of £716.5m.
It has become a debt too far for thousands of their fans, so much so that the Red Knights, a group of wealthy United followers in alliance with the Manchester United Supporters' Trust is attempting to wrest control of the club.
Stuart Dykes is a Manchester United fan living in Germany. He also supports Schalke and pays 13 euros (£12) to stand in the Veltins-Arena and watch his team.
The cost of the ticket includes free public transport to the stadium from certain areas. Membership of the Gelsenkirchen club costs him 96 euros (£86).
|
Quote:
- Bundesliga clubs broke the 2bn euro (£1.8bn) level for the first time in 2008-9
- It was the seventh successive season in which an attendance record was set - averaging 42,000 a game
- Average ticket price: 20.79 euros (£18.70) - about twice as much as in the Premier League
- The Bundesliga is the European champion of sponsorship deals - 573m euros (£515m)

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
We'll the company which runs the football club maybe debt free, but I'm sure other companies in the Bayern group aren't. Otherwise how did the pay for the new stadium and spend around £80 mil last summer

Arsenal have cleared a very good slice of the debt from their stadium, which was already turning profits because the increased gate receipts covered the interest + payments. Although the sale of £40 million worth of players (well, "worth") helped. It seems impossible Munich could afford the stadium and £80 of gate receipts when their prices are lower than Arsenal who still have outstanding debt despite what I mentioned above.
As for United their finances are a joke. I am glad the fans noticed after the bond issues were released. It's incredible. Liverpool have debt but it's nothing compared to United who, even given their huge profit making ability, needed the sale of a £80 million pound player to make a profit of £40 million. None of the losses included paying back any of the debt which has continued to increase and now the debt payments are increasing. It's a joke. How the FA ever let those morons take over the club is beyond me.

As the article emphasises; sponsorship and advertising i would imagine.
Quote:
Professional football at Bayern is run by the spin-off organization FC Bayern München AG. AG is short for Aktiengesellschaft, and Bayern is run like a joint stock company, a company whose stock are not listed on the public stock exchange, but is privately owned. 81.82% of FC Bayern München AG is owned by the club, the FC Bayern München e. V. (e. V. is short for Eingetragener Verein, which translates into "Registered Club") and 9.09% each by sports goods manufacturer Adidas, and automobile company Audi which are also major sponsors of the club.[6] Adidas acquired its shares in 2002 for €77m. The money was designated to help finance the Allianz Arena.[60] In 2009 Audi paid €90m for their share. The capital will be used to repay the loan for the Allianz Arena quicker than originally planned.[6]
Bayern's main advertising partner and current holder of the jersey rights is Deutsche Telekom. The main supplier of the club is Adidas. Other premium partners include Audi, Coca-Cola, Lufthansa, Nikon, Siemens, and Sony Ericsson.[61] In previous years the jersey rights were held by Adidas[62] (1974–78), Magirus Deutz and Iveco[63] (trucks / 1978–84), Commodore[64] (computers / 1984–89) and Opel[65] (cars / 1989–2002).
Bayern is led mostly by former club players. The club President is Uli Hoeneß. He has been in office, formerly as general manager of the club, since 1979. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is the chairman of the executive board of the AG.[66] The supervisory board of nine consists mostly of managers of big German corporations. They are Herbert Hainer, Uli Hoeneß, Timotheus Höttges, Helmut Markwort, Dieter Rampl, Fritz Scherer, Rupert Stadler, Edmund Stoiber, and Martin Winterkorn.[67]
After record revenues of €328.4 Million in 2007–08 and an after tax profit of €2.1 Million,[5] Bayern reported revenues of €303.8 Million and a profit of €2.5 Million in 2008–09.[6] According to the latest Deloitte's annual Football Money League, Bayern was the fourth richest club in the world in 2009, generating revenues of €289.5 Million.[68]

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Thought as much, stadium isn't paid off yet, the debt resides in another company - Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH
Quote:
The net profit after taxes is not a typo. Karl Hopfner remarked that it was an effect he had “not experienced before”. The complications in the figures can be assumed to result from the subsidiary Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH which continues to operate at a loss. The after tax profits represent a nearly 20% increase over the previous season.
Hopfner detailed the Audi stock purchase, which will take place in 3 stages
between spring 2010 and March 31, 2011. Audi’s stake in the club will be equal to Adidas’, 9.09 percent. This amounts to 2 million shares at total price of €90 million. Hopfner added that €163 million of the €346 milllion sum spent to build the Allianz Arena has been repaid. Hoeness had previously stated that the lion’s share of the Audi cash influx will be used to defray costs associated with the debt incurred on the stadium construction, which published reports estimate at €30 million per year. The pay off of stadium debt is seen as the key to long term growth for the club, as the stadium is the only part of the club that runs at an annual loss
