I heard Andy Gray say that but I thought they had already lost that place for the season after next. Not too sure. Series A deserves to lose a place anyway, France deserves to gain one. Barcelona seem to be single handedly dragging La Liga along for the ride as well.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Italy have three sides in the last 16 nearly every season and France had two this year but usually only one though, at the moment both have one side through to the last eight. It might be a bit harsh to take one away from the Italy and give it to France looking at the stats.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Fair enough Ligue 1 is a good league though and there is a technical skill in the French way of Football which produces good matches much more regularly than Serie A and the Bundesliga manage. It's just the lack of money means Wenger (sometimes others ) buys all the promising players before they can make much of an impact. Hugo Loris (who plays for the French First Team and Lyon) is a great keeper as well. Look at the France vs Ireland match.

Yeah they also create cheats (alright one, one cheat).....moving on
I thought Graham Souness had smacked Jose when I watched Jose speaking to Geoff Shreeves after the match. His eyes and nose were red.

Nah, All countries create cheats.
It's the level the delusion in the respective countries that denote how much coverage it gets. Scholes did something similar to Henry against, I think, Turkey or the Ivory Coast. Gerrard has an irresistible attraction to the floor and other peoples faces and Rooney isn't exactly advise to a dive.
Difference is when England do it it's either 1) ignored, 2) made to look as if it were a 50/50 decision or if it's really blatant and indefensible then it's "controversial". Then everyone congratulates each other on what good sports England are and how we uphold fair play blah blah blah.
The Henry incident was made worst because of the occasion but it happens all the time and I didn't see Ireland rushing to correct the ref when they won a penalty for a non-existent foul in an earlier qualifying match.

Difference might be whether the ref saw it or not, the ref saw Gerrard's and took no action therefore the FA can take no action.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
The teams in the draw for the Champions League Quarter Finals will be:
Arsenal
Man United
Inter Milan
Barcelona
Lyon
Bordeaux
Bayern Munich
CSKA Moscow
Who would you rather face? I would quite like to draw either of the French teams or Munich. Moscow is okish but a horrible away fixture.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
United: anybody but Barcelona. Arsenal: Barcelona for the revenge of the 2006 final.
2 English teams, 2 French teams, 1 Italian team, 1 Russian team, 1 German team and the cup holders. Sod's Law states that Arsenal will draw United though.
