Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

So Sky are aiming for 50 hd channels this year.....any chance Virgin will raise their game and deliver something similar?

ITVHD is pretty decent for the world cup though

Raise their game??? . They are adding loads now anyway. I suspect most of the missing ones that most people want are Sky owned anyway.

Well they could help launch a new channels in hd in the UK instead of just trying to catch up with sky.

I'd like to see them do something along those lines to make virgin seem like a real alternative to sky.

Ah OK. I doubt that will happen for several reasons but it would be good if it did.

Yeah it would. After all the good work of getting new hd, tivo, boxes just for once it would be nice to see them do something to take the lead over sky instead of playing second fiddle.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)

I wouldn't say they are playing second fiddle so to speak. They are with HD but VM has lead the way for VOD and BB in this country. Plus we get sports included in our top pack.

There's only 5 non-BskyB HD channels available that VM haven't now announced. Disney Cinemagic, Nat Geo Wild, Sci Fi, Rush and Luxe.tv.

Out of the others 4 of them, Bio, History, Crime and Investigation, and Mgm are join ventures with BskyB, and the rest are the fully owned by BskyB ones.

You got a source for that assumption? Film4 have not given a timescale when they will launch on Sky and Living HD won't be going to Living any time soon either. Sky aren't buying vmtv anymore so they won't get LivingHD by default. I think they will get LivingHD when we get Sky1HD the 12th of never!

Indeed... Living HD and Film4HD will be VM exclusives for a while yet.

That's true but it was inevitable for virgin to launch one of their own channels as hd and keep it as an exclusive......how long will film4 remain an exclusive? Anyone any ideas?

VM have an exclusivity deal for Film4HD, not sure how long... usually 1 year?
