I'm coming from a 8800GTSCO by XFX and it looks like it, there is a chap who has posted a comment on the model I have chosen saying it was a very good upgrade from a 9600 there is only 1 poor comment but I'm guessing that was more to do with his PC setup or maybe that he didn't remove the Nvidia drivers properly before changing to an ATI. I will let you know my findings tomorrow hopefully

Saving money, and computer kit cannot be placed in the same sentence if Damien is involved

I know but do you not agree that common sense would push towards getting the screen first then try one card then if you still dont get twice as many frames per second than the eye can see get a second lol lol

Re: New GFX Card
What you and I might think as being the sensible approach doesn't come into it. But we're a bit since this is about Graham's GFX needs

Re: New GFX Card
which mouse did you go for and keyboard?
i have the coolermaster storm mouse iirc and it is a great mouse goes up to 5200dpi and responds very well, with a logitech g11 keyboard which is also very good.

Re: New GFX Card
New graphics card is here and it's simply amazing, tried out Bioshock 2 and it's now seamlessly smooth where it was choppy on top settings before, Dalaran (to the WoW players) is now very smooth indeed, at a reasonable 25-30fps.
As for the keyboard, I am typing on it now and it is very comfortable indeed, I still haven't gotten used to the programmable keys being on the far left and keep hitting the bottom left one when I'm going for control but I'll get used to it, it's comfortable to use and seems very ergonomic and each key going down gives a reassuring click to know you've pressed it, great quality keyboard!
And the mouse, well Zing I have an MX Revolution Laser mouse and when I first got it it was very good for games, etc. Now I've had it maybe 18 months and it's definitely coming to the end of its life, it started having a quirky problem some months ago where it would respond to every single click as a double-click and got quite annoying and tiresome, I was almost going to bin it at one point but it sorted itself out, anyway, now it feels a bit sluggish and gets a bit irritating in games, so I thought I'd get myself a decent wired mouse as well just in case I feel the urge to fling the Revolution out of the window!
So yeah, it's been a good day

Re: New GFX Card
Zeph, you still have a warranty on the mouse.... so just see if Logitech want to RMA it for ya
at the moment I'm gaming with a Logitech Media 600 Keyboard and a M705 wireless mouse (see link on the mouse) which is pretty nice (have had it since xmas and battery is still going to last for another 3 years) just had to get used to it after 4 years on a G5.
