Lol It will take some time before Virgin can truly compete with Sky for Video but eventually i think they will over take them. They are all the favourite in cabled areas and once tivo takes over and is marketed correctly, more infills of their network is done plus they lower Sports and other premiums like HD to make them cheaper than Sky i think VM will see a sharp rise in customers moving over. The future is looking very bright for cable and they seem to be moving more than one step in the right direction.

I don't think it will take all that long, just a decent ruling from ofcom.
Other than HD and red button, what does Sky have on VM? A few extra channels no one watches is about it.
The box software is not only behind tivo, but also behind VM's current one, it might be marginally faster on some boxes, but it lacks the features of the VM one with only the HD epg being able to offer what the SD VM one does.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
I personally prefer the layout of sky's tv guide/menu system and the remote is much better but hey each to their own.
After all I am still struggling to see why people want hd so badly especially when it will be the same content as now (ugh) quantity over quality methinks

That is of course entirely your opinion, which many people disagree with.

The VM box in painfully slow and even worse than that at times. Since i went onto the new head end (LU) interactive is even slower.
When i press red on freeview it's instant... it takes about 30m-40 seconds on V+ box.
VM MUST sort this out soon.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2010)
I really want to jump into the HD revolution big time with Sky Sports and movies and more.
I've done it with Gaming on PS3 and with Films blu ray player. Watching films like Knowing, i Robot, I am Legend on blu ray is amazing.
Watching the Six Nations and Carling Cup final on BBC HD is awesome. Also watching Prem Football on ESPN HD is quality! And watching Saving private Ryan yesterday on C4 HD was great..
I just want to enjoy that quality a lot more with sports and movies!
I've got a 46" 1080p Toshiba LCD, Yamaha 1900 av reciever, 7.1 speakers.

Exact same position here, i'm not sure how long I can wait for Virgin to get Sky Sports HD, I have decided I will wait until the end of summer and then switch to Sky, probably still keep my cable broadband though!

We can only hope that they do rule in favour of BT VM etc.
