Just upgraded to 50MB
And i gotta say its really good, I am downloading at speeds of 6.0MB/s. I had a bit of a problem at first, when the guy installed it I was having crazy speed decreases, disconnects and i was really worried. I rang up, and some guy over the phone said something about power levels being to high (iv no idea) and said he can get the guy back to my house within 5 minute (which he did, so spot on customer service) he come back and did some stuff outside, changed a "tap" (whatever that is lol) and now everything seems to be running smoothly, even my Virgin TV is actually preforming better then ever.
So i guess this is just a plug for anyone who has not got the 50 upgrade, or cannot afford it, you really do get what you pay with virgin from my experience. The internet is always up, speed is always fast, i mean i am download demos at 2GB in a few minutes, its incredible. So i thoroughly recommend anyone who is not with virgin to switch, i really do think they are a good service to be with. I have tried Sky and BT and this one is by far the best iv had.
The one thing that would make Virgin the absolute PERFECT package, is Sky Sports HD (Me and my mates REALLY want this!) so I hope we do one day get it.
Anyway, thats all i wanted to say. This is my first post, Its just a praise thread but i am a happy customer : ) So Thanks.
P.S
The equipment they supplie you with is also rather slick, the new black modem and router and i also got a USB dongle which is worth £55, so even more goodies from virgin which will prove useful)

Re: Just upgraded to 50MB..
You are not the only one happy with VM's service, myself included. It does make a pleasant change though to see a first post in praise of VM. Most people come here because of a problem.

I have to say I haven't had too many problems although their offshore customer service teams need to improve a lot

Re: Just upgraded to 50MB
I must admit I do speed tests and rarely get over 40Mb, but downloading via newsgroups always get around 48Mb so I am happy, TV can be a little shakey sometimes, but phone does what it needs to, other than that perfect all the time.

Not really my service has had a glitch before and then it gets fixed, not everybodys service is bad as yours, if it was VM would have no customers, or maybe they would have moaning customers like yourself who stay with them for reasons not known to me.

Re: Just upgraded to 50MB
Some speedtest.net servers just can't handle the speed. It doesn't matter if you have 50Mb if the other end is on a 64kb ISDN link.
Try Maidenhead then London. The former on my 20Mb gives very low results, the latter always around 20Mb.

As stated speed test sites are not very reliable due to the speed of their severs etc. Your "real results" show a 50Mb/s connection at about 48Mb/s which is good.
