Re: 50MB Questions

Thank you,

So as my post suggests does anyone in or around my area of SK5 (Stockport, Greater Manchester) have or know of any issues with the 50MB service because I want to get to the bottom of this or downgrade back to the 10MB.

Re: 50MB Questions

I'd just like to add that in my experience only the London server at speedtest.net gives consistent results on 50Meg. It is one of my 3 local ones but neither of the other two give consistent results. I believe that not all of their servers are capable of testing consistently at 50Meg.

Re: 50MB Questions

Just read on another forum about the RxMER??? and that above 37 & upwards is considerd best.

Since mine is
RxMER
(dB) 36.39 - 36.39 - 36.39 - 36.84

Could this be low enough to have an affect?

Re: 50MB Questions

The system is supposed to adjust from 256QAM to 64QAM if RxMER goes too low. Your values are not problematic IMO. Doesn't mean there's nothing else wrong on the circuit, but your signal is stronger than the noise.

---------- Post added at 16:39 ---------- Previous post was at 15:33 ----------

I've just fired a complaint over to Virgin asking them to look in to my area and speed problems.

As everything is disconnected from my network and the pc runs direct to their new modem I feel the error must be either my modem, the hub/exchange or maybe somewhere in between, I'll post back when I get a response.

Re: 50MB Questions

I never had even so much as a reply about my complaint to VM other than the auto response.

Now I just keep having issues with random drop outs...
