Hi Dave,

If you are in area 20 and switch WL1 (Wirral) you CAN says "BenMcr" get caller display. Have you checked your equipment is caller display compatible from a cable line? Also I second this as I have Caller display and am on WL1 (Area 20).

Re: Caller Display "No Longer Available" after port

not sure if this has anything to do with it, but went out this morning and it was still not working, then I saw a few Virgin Media men in the road working on the boxes etc and when I came home tonight it was working!

only waited 5 years for this since we switched to VM.

Why? Do you know better?

It can and does fail at cab level due to power/battery issues within the cab... I've seen it happen.

Re: Caller Display "No Longer Available" after port

Hi Digital Fanatic,

Pardon me asking, and please excuse my ignorance, But why do the street cabinets contain batteries? And what are they for? And what else would not work if the batteries failed? Just for my own curiosity?

Re: Caller Display "No Longer Available" after port

So that phones keeping working even in a power cut.
The last time we a power cut, while my cordless phones wouldn't work, my wired phone continued to work and I was able to call the power company and get a fix time.

As moaningmags says... for loss of power in an emergency.
