VCR Scart on samsung V+

Hi

I am thinking of moving from sky to virgin to bring the tv in line with my broadband and phone. With sky i use the RF out for the tv upstairs with a magic eye.

I know about the RF not being on the samsung and also the TV scart being disabled when in hdmi mode, so i have a couple of questions about the vcr scart as i seem to be finding contradictory information on other sites.

The FAQ states that the menus are displayed on another tv if using the VCR scart on samsung only. Is this the case, or are they turned off due to recording devices etc?

If i use the VCR scart using the RF modulator from maplins; will the tv(freeview) signal be sent through this or would it just be the virgin tv signal. the Sky RF sends the sky tv and the freeview signal.

Thanks

Steve

Re: VCR Scart on samsung V+

Welcome to the forum!

The FAQ is correct. The menus are displayed on the VCR SCART on the Samsung V+, but not the SA. Note you don't get a choice which model you get, though most boxes installed these days are Samsungs.

Freeview signals aren't carried on the SCART, but maybe you could use an aerial combiner on the output of the RF modulator to insert the signals from your aerial.

Re: VCR Scart on samsung V+

Thanks very much

Sounds like a good plan as long as they supply the samsung (which i will have to demand).

I will need to get myself some IR box for changing channels upstairs. Anyone got any recommendations for this; and does it plug into the back of the samsung, or do i need to point it at the front like the digisender remote?

Thanks

You can get wireless IR senders to go alongside your Scart to RF modulator, or you can get an all in one wireless scart and IR sender (one has a range of 80m).
