BBC 1 North West pixelating and sound breaking up.
Since 19 Jan I've been experiencing picture break-up and sound loss on the BBC 1 North West from my V+ box - all the other channels are perfect. I needed to use Channel 861 to watch the Manchester derby as BBC 1 on channel 101 was unwatchable (so was the match as it happened). The problem is still there to a lesser extent still but has not affected any other channel. Anyone any idea as to the cause here?

If it's just one channel then you are going to need an engineer... If everyone in the North West had the same issue then we'd know about it!
Report it to 151 and they will ask you to monitor it for a day and if it continues then call back and they will send a tech out to check your signal levels at the property. HTH

Thanks for the quick response Digital Fanatic. I thought all channels would come down the cable with equal strength. I'll give 151 a try to see what they say.

Does anyone know what are considered to be healthy SNR, signal levels for the V+ boxes, I know each channel can be slightly different but just a ball park will do.
The snr on mine is always around 31, and I do get a lot of pixelation on certain channels, also is worth having a sticky with these values in, just like for ones for the modem configs

Thanks for replies - BBC 1 North West seems back to normal today, so not called 151. We find the V+ box very easy to use and just knocks the spots off all the DVD/HD recorders we've had in the past.

Ooops! Picture and sound breaking up again on BBC 1 North West - I've phoned VM on 151 - quick response. Seems there's no local outages so problem passed to another dept and I've been asked to keep an eye on it for now. So will use alternative 861 channel.

Check all connections, make sure nothing is blocking the vents on the V-box... if all ok then call Support on 151 or 0845 454 1111 from a non VM line.

Certain problems can affect only certain frequencies. A single freq will carry a small number of channels. Chances are you will have pixelation on some other channels but they are probably ones that you never watch. You could have "suck out" on one particular freq.
Call VM.
