Palin to step down

Not Michael but Sarah

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8133964.stm

Speculation is that she will stand for the Presidency in 2012.

Note how the statement said 'she had asked her family for their opinion before making her decision'. Not that she was wanting to spend more time with her family...

Re: Palin to step down

Dunning-Kruger strikes again...

Quote:
The Dunning-Kruger effect is an example of cognitive bias in which "...people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it"[1]. They therefore suffer an illusory superiority, rating their own ability as above average. This leads to a perverse result where people with less competence will rate their ability more highly than people with relatively more competence. It also explains competence may weaken the projection of confidence because competent individuals falsely assume others are of equivalent understanding "Thus, the miscalibration of the incompetent stems from an error about the self, whereas the miscalibration of the highly competent stems from an error about others."

"I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News," Palin said in a statement posted on the network's Web site. "It's wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news."

I'm wiping the coffee off my monitor right now.

Re: Palin to step down

I like her. She's more amenable than most. And coming from a job in politics means she has a lot more experience than most political commentators seem to have.

Regarding her previous job and possible forthcoming one, we need more fit women in politics. Harriet Harperson, the Lib Dem one who looks like a Russian doll. Janet Reno. Hillary Rodham-Clinton. See what I mean? Whoever gets the job will invariably be incompetent and self-serving so might as well make them fit in the process.

I read that line in the Guardian yesterday, it absolutely beggars belief that "anybody" with more than a few brain cells could keep a straight face whilst claiming that Fox News was balanced and unbiased.
Also in the Guardian was the suggestion that Pallin's foray into "news" is just a pre-cursor for a presidential bid in 2012, seeing as a large percentage of Republicans believe that Obama is taking the US down the road of socialism, Pallin could well be the next in a long line of Republican patsies put up by America's right.
The truly astonishing part is that she could well be elected....thankfully only in America.
