				My Router Hates My iPhone

Don't think there's anything I can do, just one of those things.
Every now and then the router stops responding wirelessly to the iPhone. When it happens my laptop is still working fine, also on wireless, the iPhone just can't browse or access any data services.

Rebooting the iPhone doesn't make any difference, the only thing that works is rebooting the router.

Have you tried a static IP on the IPhone?

			Yep.
Also tried staticaly assigned DNS servers, tried using the router as DNS server, tried two or three different DNS servers both on the router and on the iPhone.

			It's a Linksys WAG354G, the iPhone's a new iPhone 3GS.
The connection never actually drops, it's still connected, just that nothing seems to respond.....

Have you tried resetting the network settings through "settings" ?
Edit: What firmware are you running, I assume 3.1.2?

Yep, deleted and reapplied the settings a couple of times, and I'm running the latest version of the firmware on the iPhone.
I'm thinking it's just a dodgy wireless implementation on the router/iPhone and one just doesn't like the other.....

I had a very similar issue with my 3GS with my DLink. A simple, firmware upgrade on the router resolved it.

I think there are differences between the implementation of WiFi between different makes.
I know that, for instance, the Xbox360 wireless network controller has trouble accessing WPA or WPA2 protected networks if they are hosted by Apple routers..

I had no end of problems with my iphone and my old router (wrt54gs). I ended up setting a static ip to the phone and while it did work, the phone lasted about 2 or 3 days before refusing to work correctly wirelessly.
In the end I upgraded to the linksys wrt54g2 and it works flawlessly.

i really cant explain why the wrt54gs wasnt fully compatible, but as others have said, maybe its a different implementation of wifi?

apolgies for dodgey spelling.. bit drunk |

My iPhone was exactly the same Rob. When I was ill and in bed, I'd have to reboot the router from my N95 (which was always fine).
I swapped routers, I could never get to the bottom of it.
No problems now with a Netgear.

 | Linksys says it all the firmware are all crap they always crash when you hit 4meg speed or just crash if too much activity going on. I have a linksys WRT54G2 and flashed it into DD WRT..never had a problem with my ipod touch www.dd-wrt.com |
