NETGEAR DG834G v2 54Mbps WIRELESS ADSL ROUTER

if i purchase a used NETGEAR DG834G v2 54Mbps WIRELESS ADSL ROUTER would it be possible to have a pc ina wired connection and my ps3 in a wireless connection with this router at the same time??

And also what would i have to do to install this if my internet on my pc has only been installed and set to gain internet access from my virgin media modem? would i need to contact virgin media?

Your DG834 ADSL router could have a wired connection to your PC and a wireless connection to your PS3 (as long as PS3 had wireless capability, I'm assuming it does?) OK.

However, you could NOT connect it up to your Virgin Media modem, as its an ADSL router. You would need a cable router instead. The WAN socket is different on the back, and they do different things (effectively an ADSL router is a cable router with an ADSL modem bolted on, but you don't need to understand this....).

If you get a wireless cable router, from among the ones recommended by users on here, you should be able to do what you want to do.
