Any idea why this is happening?

Since our box was disconnected/ reconnected last week we've been having problems.

Sometimes we lose the picture, sometimes we lose the sound, other times the box freezes and I have to unplug it to sort things out. Today it's developed a new one, it keeps telling me that either the viewing card is missing or not correctly fitted. The card's not been touched so why is it doing this?

When you say disconnected/re-connected, do you mean you did this?

You need to do a FULL connection check... check all leads are firmly in their connections, remove the smartcard and re-insert (it may have come slightly loose).. make sure nothing is blocking any air vents on the V+.

What area are you in? They have changed the viewing cards in some areas and you may not have been sent one if they were planning to cut you off. What Digital fanatic says is very good advice.

If that doesn't work you will have to call em

Re: Any idea why this is happening?

I've cleaned and refitted the card which has stopped it complaining about that but we've still got the occasional freeze.

The ventilation holes are fine (it's sitting out in the open not in a cupboard).

VM haven't got any free engineers available (they are all doing installations for new customers), we're due to be upgraded to a V+ box in mid January so I suppose I'm stuck until then.

Make sure they check your signal levels when they come. It may be you've been put on a different tap in the street cab when you were reconnected. This might have changed your incoming levels.

I had a disagreement with VM about the upgrade time and told them I was going to go with Sky instead, so they disconnected the service (remotely).
