DVI cable, still no sound using scart > audio cable

Got a new Samsung box, old HD Bush telly with DVI port only, not HDMI. Got a HDMI to DVI cable installed, so no sound with HD, only get sound using normal scart, but then no HD. Following the FAQ I have bought a scart to 2 audio lead off ebay, which is plugged into V+/TV. DVI HD picture is fine but still no sound. 5.1 overide is off.

Any suggestions?

Re: DVI cable, still no sound using scart > audio cable

Check you are using the VCR SCART socket on the V+ (that's the top one). And check your TV manual to make sure you are using the right inputs. Some TVs only let you use one particular audio input at the same time as DVI.

ps Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the reply.

Yes using the VCR socket, no idea where the TV manual is, havent been able to find one via google either.
There is also a PC audio in on the TV, what are the chances of a Scart from VCR to PC Audio working (if there is such a thing) ? Dont want to waster more money !

Chances are pretty good I would say. Do you have an MP3 player or something that you can use to test whether the PC audio input works at the same time as the DVI?

Or buy a lead from Maplin and unpack it carefully. You can return it under their 14-day guarantee if it doesn't work. One of these maybe.

Yes I will try an MP3 into the PC Audio, good idea.

Is using the Optical Out from the V+ an option- straight into the back of the TV ??

Maybe if it's got an optical input.

Thought you said it was an old TV.

Re: DVI cable, still no sound using scart > audio cable

I had used a HDMI to DVI with my previous TV, as DVI onl carries video I also needed an audio cable [2 Phono (RCA) Male to 2 Phono Female Cable] to link the V+ to the TV audio. This worked fine for me.

Hope this helps.
