I don't think he got them wrong and Poll will say and do anything to up his profile, including dumping on a ex colleague, so I don't think it's a case of closing ranks either.
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand may be dropped from the first team because of fears that the 30-year-old is past his best.
Full story: The Sun
Past his best my arse he just needs to adapt his game a bit now he is a little older, he has plenty left in the tank.

I just had this argument at work, the idea being that because Carragher touched the ball, it's a good tackle, wrong. I put it this way, Scholes is the worst tackler ever, he flies in and takes the man, but he generally hits the ball as well. If the ball isn't taken out of the path of the player, how is it a tackle?
If you watch the Pool goal, I think it is Berbatov, passes the ball and is dumped to ass after he played it, the Ref stopped, but played on, I thought he would go back and book him, instead he lets the game run and they score, Ferdinand actually caught Torres up.
But if you don't blame Ferdinand, you have to blame the Ref for not awarding a free-kick when we didn't get any advantage from playing on, but they can't do that.
The day The Sun get a Man Utd story right will be a day to remember, maybe they mean dropped for the Carling Cup?

Fancy Slipping. Anyone seen G Nevilles sending off, apparently he touched the ball!

Ball first then a bit of player = good tackle, this is a contact game after all, Scholes takes man first a lot of the time and that isn't on.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
If you watch the Gary Neville "challenge" you'll note he got the ball, slightly withdrew his foot and then decided to leave it in to get the man deliberately. There was intent to hurt/injure the other player.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Great watching Arsenal's youth team (and Nasri, Eduardo and Bentner) last night. Great game. Wonderful goals from Arsenal and Liverpool, Liverpool's one was an incredible shot. Same nice passing going on as well. Haven't seen a game which such passing in a long time. Not sure if that was because of the players being more relaxed or the defences being crap but still.
Gibbs is looking very good after the rather dodgy season last year. Ramsay is showing why he is about to make the leap into the main team, only being kept out because Arsenal are not short of great midfielders. That itself is becoming a problem, too many quality midfielders that some won't get a game.

Wigan striker Wigan striker Marlon King has been jailed for 18 months after being found guilty of a nightclub attack on a young woman.
King, who was celebrating both his wife's pregnancy and scoring a winning goal hours earlier, was repeatedly "cold-shouldered" by women revellers in London's packed Soho Revue Bar last December.
When a slightly-built university student became the latest to recoil from his touch, he lost his temper and in an outburst of "completely gratuitous violence" lashed out, "smashing" her to the floor.

Hopefully he gets "smashed to the floor" while he's enjoying his time away from football.

He was trying it on with a girl in a club whilst out celebrating his wife's latest pregnancy. You couldn't make it up could you. A case of too much money, not enough brains!

Funny way to celebrate your wife's pregnancy by hitting on women and than punching one.
