English teams aren't much better. Hopefully United and Chelsea can redress the balance.

Trying to work out what Liverpool need to do it qualify.
Winning at Lyon and at home to Fiorentina should do it.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
And for anybody considering getting hold of a beach ball for the Liverpool match this weekend, you better think again with the news that police have banned all inflatables for the Anfield match.
Manchester Evening News
Why do they always have to spoil our fun?
I'm still hopeful some will get past security

I used to, not so much anymore about 3 or 4 a season. I used to go to most home matches and a few aways.
Apparently the police had already said before the beach ball thing we're not allowed to take our banner in reply to this
We'll have to wait for the home game.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Rooney just ran out.
---------- Post added at 13:37 ---------- Previous post was at 13:36 ----------
Torres is on, no Gerrard.
---------- Post added at 13:57 ---------- Previous post was at 13:37 ----------
Loads of beach balls on the pitch, coming back on as fast as they are clearing them, and all from the Liverpool fans!
---------- Post added at 14:19 ---------- Previous post was at 13:57 ----------
Long afternoon I think. We have yet to get a freekick, Valencia just had his shirt pulled off to stop him braking away, Torres gets one for tripping himself up. Then drops like a stone and gets Evra booked.
---------- Post added at 14:42 ---------- Previous post was at 14:19 ----------
Penalty, that was worse than the tackle Evra got booked for and 10x worse than what Berbatov got booked for. The Ref is shocking.
---------- Post added at 14:52 ---------- Previous post was at 14:42 ----------
And people call OT, that was the most one sided performance from a Ref I have ever seen, how anyone from Liverpool can be complaining is beyond me, we have had nothing from him. Took 46mins for us to get a decision on a 50/50. What happens 2nd Half these days, Torres gets pushed round in a Golden Chariot?
---------- Post added at 15:28 ---------- Previous post was at 14:52 ----------
Well I am shocked, a UTD player gets dumped to the floor after the ball is played, Liverpool break and score, amazing how strong Torres can suddenly become. Hope the Ref is happy.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
After all the focus on Refs the last few games, he goes out and puts in a 90min shift like that. It was shameful.
---------- Post added at 16:03 ---------- Previous post was at 16:02 ----------
He had no intention of booking or in fact punishing anything from a Liverpool player, how Carragher is still on that field only the Ref knows.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
The 12 men of Liverpool played very well, especially the one with the whistle.
Bad reffing aside they deserved to win.

Listen, we get away with murder at OT at times, I am the first to admit it, but nothing like that. Supported UTD since 1978, I have seen one game in all that time when I thought the Ref was a rogue, that was v Porto in ECL (Carried on from Porto screwing Celtic the season before) that is the first time I have seen a game in the ECL that was of the same nature, it was disgraceful.
I am getting texts from people that normally rub it in my face, and even they are saying it, and if they are saying it, then there must be something in it.
Ferguson may wanna think twice before he slates Refs again?

It was the bad effinreffin that was keeping them in it. They look an ordinary side to me, back four is rubbish, I figured it was just a question of time before we nailed them, but it's hard work when you are fouled on every attack and it is play on. When Torres can get a free kick for tripping over his own feet, you are in trouble.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
I know what you are saying KB...this season the reffin have been an effin joke. and yes I agree with some of the rants Fergie, Wenger, Rafa et all have had about the refs.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Yet another vintage performance from donkey today. How many goals did he manage again?
Part of me seriously wants him bombed out in january but that will leave us a man down for the CL.
Then again it always feels that way when he plays anyway.
Rio seriously needs a holiday. Or a good kicking. I can't figure out which one but SAF ought to start publically looking for a new central defender just to put the pressure on him and make him be in no doubts his place in the team is in serious jeopardy.
And if SAF still believes United are contenders with this shower of **** performance then maybe it's time the board needs to consider his position. A team like Liverpool we should have had stitched up up half time, with or without a scouse ref.
Oh and I can't help but raise a smile at the scouse fans online who are saying they think this win will be the turning point for liverpool which will see them go on to win the league

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
I had a six pack in the fridge, I started on that 20mins in, I could see how it was going by then, so the pain isn't as bad.
Everyone thinks the Ref is against them, it's the heat of the moment and Rose tinted specs, nobody with anything about them (as far as Football goes) can defend that performance from the Ref today. If the Ref has turned the other cheek on some of the fouls because of Ferguson, then Ferguson deserves it, the fans and football don't.
His performance needs to be looked at, need to nip all of this in the bud. Refs and Managers. I am totally against technology being brought into the game, would this type of banter even exist when they have Slo-Motion, 3D physics based simulations for every decision. But as things are going, it is inevitable. That game just brought it closer.

Agree with that, they look a poor side to me. Not a patch on last season.
---------- Post added at 17:05 ---------- Previous post was at 17:04 ----------
Those same fans are aware they took six off us last season?
