Re: Drunk student shows no respect for soldiers
They should let him visit the local army barracks and introduce him to the lads in the mess behind closed doors, where the squaddies could instil a bit of respect into him

Re: Drunk student shows no respect for soldiers
Better still ban him from alcohol for life and make him clean every war memorial in the country.. Violence insn't gonna stop him from doing it again if he gets in that drunken state

Re: Drunk student shows no respect for soldiers
It's horrible and out of order that he did this but it's a bit much to say it will ruin the rest of his life

Re: Drunk student shows no respect for soldiers
to be honest i think the company who organized this "pub crawl"should feel a little guilty. They are actively encouraging students to go out and get absolutely bladdered. Now I'm not averse to a bit of a drink myself and like a good knees up but this type of binge drinking is dangerous for these kids ,they have not much experience in how to drink responsibly and could suffer lasting damage to their health
apart from that these kids are supposed to be university students ,the academic elite of this country ,these people are going to be running the country and in high power jobs in 15-20yrs time lets hope they've grown up a bit by then or god help us all

Some good points there..I think it was extremely irresponsible to organise an event like this.

Re: Drunk student shows no respect for soldiers
I think to say that he should be taught respect isn't right. He clearly did not do this as a conscious act to disrespect the dead, he just got really really drunk. Past the point where he is aware of his own actions or consequences. I don't think anything was going though his mind.
He seems horrified at what he did. He has to live with it and the fact he made it into a national paper. He will have a hard time living it down.

Re: Drunk student shows no respect for soldiers
I think the lad deserves a bit of sympathy since from the photograph he clearly is suffering from pixelated penis.
Who knows what affect such an affliction can have on behaviour. There's potential for a phd here for somebody as I've never saw any photographic evidence of people with unpixelated penis' performing such acts.

Damien, I have to strongly disagree. No matter how drunk anyone gets, they are always responsible for their actions!
Drivers who drink to excess and then get caught behind the wheel of their car are still held responsible. People who stay up all night, then fall asleep behind the wheel of their motor vehicle are help accountable for their actions, if they cause an accident.... So why should people who get blattered of their faces and urinate whereever they feel like get a free pass.... We are responsible for our actions at all times, not just when its convenient.....
