£25 for 10mb broadband why?
hi recentley i upgraded to the 10bmb broadband package from 2mb which iam very happy with the speed is great.my bill for 2mb was £18.00 per month, since getting 10mb my bill as gone upto £25 per month. i have paperless billing+direct debit (as before when i was on 2mb nothing has changed) I rang virgin up and they say the reason why its £25 is because ive got the antivirus protection software. Well i havent, i didnt order it,and i dont need it,and i havent got it.could any of u guys figure out what they are on about please. All i did was when virgin said that they were upgrading 2mb to 10 mb free ,i went on their website and said that i wanted it.i filled out the form and within 3 hrs i was on 10mb i was well happy.Iam not now

I think you upgraded to the L tariff and you were on the M tariff

Yes, I agree with this. The OP must have upgraded from 2Mb to 10Mb by upgrading from BB M to BB L rather than taking the route of requesting the 'free' upgrade of BB M to 10Mb.
As I understand, there is no way back as BB M is no longer available.

Re: £25 for 10mb broadband why?
But even if that were the case and the OP upgraded to BB L they *should* still be paying £20

Perhaps we haven't been advised by the OP of all of the services he has from Virgin Media and the price he is paying in total.
Wouldn't it be useful if all those who come onto this forum and others complaining about their price and being 'ripped off' could detail their Advance Charges up front so people would have a real chance to help them first time?
PS If the OP erroneously upgraded via Selfcare and they were previously not getting a discount on BB M price then presumeably they would continue not to get a discount on BB L £25 price??

Selfcare and the Existing customer bit of the sales website are very broken and I wouldn't suggest anyone uses them to upgrade services

Perhaps the OP can help us by logging onto My Virgin Media and telling us whether it says BB M 10Mb or BB L 10Mb....
...or confirming to us that his bill has a line item BB L £25!

They're ripping you off man just like they are me (and lots of other people.) They're charging me £20 per month for a 2Mb 'M' BB that doesn't exist. Here's the thread I started if you're interested http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12...ying-20-p.html.
Good luck.

BB M 2Mbit certain does exist (for the moment). It was withdrawn from new sale back in Feburary and all customers still on it are being upgraded to BB M 10Mbit for free

Well done for owning up and saying that you got it wrong!
Go through Retentions (take option as if leaving Virgin Media) and simply say that you want the ongoing BB L STANDALONE at £20 per month as per the website:
