Network Mapping Software
Heartfelt thanks for reading my pitiful thread, may the sun shine long upon your life.....
Now then, here's the thing, I need some network mapping software - something that I can use to draw a map of the physical layout of a small LAN, and enter details of the devices on it (IP addresses, hostnames, OS, and so on).
Needs to be free, and I don't mind if it runs on Windows or Linux (actually, I wouldn't even mind if it ran on the iPhone).
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Re: Network Mapping Software
That looks interesting Paul, thanks for that - is this software that you're using, or have used in the past?

Re: Network Mapping Software
Yeah, just been looking at how it works.
I think I just need something that I can fill the details in on myself tbh.

Re: Network Mapping Software
solarwinds aren't bad. I use catTools, subnet calculator and syslog server at work, but for anything of a substantial nature or imperative network toolset, you tend to have to pay for licenses. good apps though.

Re: Network Mapping Software
Rob,
I use Diagram Tools II™ - not "free" but multi platform, readily available and even a child can get to grips with them really quick.

Actually, I'm not so sure I'm going to be able to get my head around that Mr A.
If anybody can recommend anything with a shallower learning curve I'd appreciated it.
