Unhappy New Virgin Media box - AP52 issues

I have recently moved into a house share with a few other people, one of whom has had virgin media since february with no problems at all. He ordered an additional set top box so the rest of us could have TV downstairs but after setting it up we are stuck with a black screen with the virgin media logo in the centre and AP52 on the front of the box.

We left it overnight, assuming it was downloading updates but this morning we are still left with the same screen. I have tried resetting the box several times but still the same problem. However, we are having no problem with our internet connection and the original box works on both TVs.

Any advice as to what could be happening or should we just give up and call Virgin as frustratingly they do not have an e-mail option.

Thanks

Yeah that's what we thought, we've called out an engineer. Seems rediculous having to get someone out for a brand new box, ah well, no harm done I suppose.

Thanks for the welcome

Re: New Virgin Media box - AP52 issues

The installer should really have checked and left the STB in a working condition. it's not your fault as a customer that he failed to do so. Regretably sometimes the STBs that are provided, because they are hired rather than pruchased, can be refurbished units. Therefore sometimes the STBs can show faults that might not have been expected hence why the installer must check that everything functions before leaving the customer.

Re: New Virgin Media box - AP52 issues

I assume this was a self-install. It's more likely to be a cable fault than a problem with the STB itself (which in all probability is brand new).
