Re: The iPhone thread
Marvelous.....
I moved from Vodafone to O2 because I wanted an iPhone, and now I get crappy signal at home - if I'd known they were going to do this I would have stayed put.

True, but as far as I understood it, the only real difference between the UK networks is that O2 installed EDGE to enable slightly faster data transfers on the original iphone, and no other network uses it.

Re: The iPhone thread
Guess what!?!?
My SECOND Iphone arrived today and was in a worse state than the first. Not only did it have the same screen issue (which is genuine) but it also had a scratched power button, a black mark on the white case and a load of 'plasticy' crap hanging out the side of the touch screen!
Are Apple exclusively employing work experience kids at the moment?

Re: The iPhone thread
quite possibly, I have just had to have a BGA Reflow done on the Graphics card in a 24" imac for a customer. I am guessing that there are severe quality control issues.

Re: The iPhone thread
I could forgive the occasional mishap, no company are perfect. But of the three recent Apple branded products that have been in my household this past month, ALL have been faulty in one way or another.
Its quite shocking when you consider how popular they are at the moment!
Supply and demand having a severe effect on quality it seems - Not good Apple!

Re: The iPhone thread
If Orange merger their network with T-Mobile, then I will definitely move my iPhone to Orange next year. T-Mobile are the only people to provide good coverage in my house... yes... indoors, where it is isn't predicted and therefore should be a big white dot on everyone else's maps!!
For what it's worth, here's my iPhone history. Damning on Apple, damning on me...
1st iPhone - dropped, insurance claim
2nd iPhone - home button failed
3rd iPhone - phone calls silent, microphone hardware fault
4th iPhone - wi-fi chip failed
5th iPhone - I've just dropped it in a swimming pool (while fully clothed, including dropping myself)
That's three failed iPhones in about six months. Not good.

So long as Apple's fails exceed my own, they're the worse culprit!!

Re: The iPhone thread
Perhaps the failures would be reduced if you looked at the Toshiba TG02 when it comes out.... It's waterproof lol

Re: The iPhone thread
Just seen a potentially handy app for the iPhone. Similar to Say No To 0870, it enables you to look up (and dial) the number that the 0870 connects to.

Its a stuffed battery. I fully charged it last night, over night it dropped 10% charge doing naff all but sitting in standby!
Took a call from 02 and during a three min convo it dropped another 5%.
So thats three knackered Iphones 02 have sent me, I bet they are getting slightly peeved at Apple!
All three have been white, the manager I spoke to today in the business dept agreed that it was worth me swapping to Black to see if that cures the issues with the cracked cases and screen issues.
Come on Apple, sort yourselves out!

Re: The iPhone thread
Sorry to hear about your shoddy service.
If it helps (re the black iPhone), I have had one for over a year now, and had no problems.
