Code 1200 all BBC channels

Hi, New to vm and V+. Installed on Saturday (Orpington). Seemed to go very smoothly - TV, Phone and BB all working. However, suffered from creeping death on all BBC channels. First with broken picture and poor sound, but now all BBC channel have error code 1200. Called vm twice and spoke to "Martin" and "Susan" in Bangalore. Both times told to call back in 24 hours while they monitor the connection. I found previous references on google, but no solution/reason.

They must know what causes this.

Do I grin and bear it or put the box on the door step?

Re: Code 1200 all BBC channels

Maybe I am wrong but what you have been told seems a bit iffy. Unless there is an ongoing problem in your area for them to monitor on your behalf I don't see how what you have been told can sort your problem out.

Try phoning again and this time hang up unless you hear a Scottish, Welsh or Liverpudlian accent . I am sure they should be able to send a hit to your V+ which, after a reboot, may clear the problem.

If the problem persists I am sure they will be able to book you a tech visit.

It is now standard proceedure to monitor for 24 hours for any other reports of missing channels before booking a tech ...if it's now over 24 hours, then call back and advise you still have the issue.

Thanks for that information DF. Just as a point of interest how would just monitoring this OP's problem cure it? Would you be just watching out for similar reports from other subscribers in the same area?

Yeah, thats basically it... saves sending out a tech if it turns out to be a localised issue

Sounds sensible, but frustrating for the customer who suspects they are being given the run around.

Re: Code 1200 all BBC channels

Thanks for the replies.

I called them again this evening. No Joy. I aksed for an Eng visit, now booked for Saturday.

I still cant understand why just all of the BBC channels?

(Anyway, now need to find out why sending email from my new vm email account to more than 1 recipient is being rejected as GMail thinks its spam -)

It will be the frequency the channels are sent down to you on...may need to adjust the levels to your property.

Let us know how you get on M.F. and if you need any more help, just shout and we'll see what we can do

Re: Code 1200 all BBC channels

Stayed in on Saturday. Engineer did not show. No phone call.

Have found that if you phone and pick the "I am thinking of leaving" option you at least get to speak to an English speaking helpful agent.

Re: Code 1200 all BBC channels

All appears to be fixed. Engineer called today. Said straight away "it'll be a bad wiring connection". Sure enough outside juntion box - he remade the broad guage cable connector and it then it tested good straight away.
