roomsnet.com warning
Please warn anyone that you know who books hotels and apartments via the internet.
After reading on tripadvisor about the problems people are having with roomsnet.com i decided to check that my hotel booking was ok, having used them many times in the past thought all should be fine. The hotel has just replied to my email and told me that the booking was cancelled yesterday 28th august so now i have no hotel booked. I have contacted my credit card company and have been told that i can claim the money back (and i flamin well am) if i hadn't checked with my hotel we would have turned up with nowhere to stop. (all i can say is i wish i had looked at trip advisor earlier) So be warned if you have anything booked with roomsnet contact your hotel or apartment and check with them if your booking is confirmed and paid for with them (rather than just assuming they will accept the voucher you have from roomsnet) before you try and check with roomsnet.com as they are not answering phones and you get no reply from emails or online adviser on the website

Whilst I understand your situation. "Slating" a company on a forum, is a pet hate of mine - have you spoke to this roomsnet.com - have you even asked them whats happened / whats going on. That fault may not be with roomsnet.com it may be with the hotel and or their systems.. I would check before doing a chargeback, granted you have your reasons, but in this case it's always best to communicate first with the company.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
I have tried to contact the 7 days a week 24 hour a day cutomer help line no answer. have emailed them no answer, have tried the online im help it says you are the first person in the queue then tell you to email instead as operaters are busy. There is noone answering any form of enquiry even the hotels (not just mine but at least 30 others that i have managed to find out about today alone) cannot get hold of them, the agents for apartments can't get hold of them to find out about payments. I paid in full for this hotel back in July and have heard nothing since. I am not slating them as i state in my post i have used them many times and have been extremely happy wih the service. I am just telling people to check with the hotel or apartment they have booked to make sure. If i had just assumed that all was ok I would have turned up at the hotel in the middle of the night and had no booking.

Yeah I agree, Locutus1974 wasn't 'Slating' he was simply warning others of the poor level of service he recieved.
Thanks for the heads-up!

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Hi, I booked my hotel in Spain through roomsnet in March, and when I arrived at my hotel in July with my 2 young grandchildren and sick husband at 10pm we were informed that roomsnet hadnt paid for our hotel room, and there was no vacances. We were quite lucky as we hve stayed at the same hotel several times and the reception remembered us, they told us we could stay in one of there emergency rooms and we could sort rooms net out the following morning, at which time we rang roomsnet, and we were told to pay the hotel and they would refund the money after our holiday of which was for two weeks. We told them that we could not afford to pay this out, so we were told that we would have to find somewhere else.
After several phonecalls back home to family we got the money together to pay for our stay.
Our hotel told us that it was the policy of roomsnet and other letting agencies to get the holiday money of the clients, but not pay for the hotel till the week you are due to arrive.
When we got home we must have been one of the lucky ones because within the 1st week back roomsnet had repaid our money, but that didn't compansate for all the stress and worry that their company caused for our much needed holiday.
Have you tried ringing this no. 207 402 8192 good luck anyway

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Do not use roomsnet. lots of people are currently having to pay again for rooms they thought they had booked when they arrive at their hotel.roomsnet do not reply to emails or phone calls yet their website is still active.
Anyone having trouble getting their money refunded ? Ring EDIT and ask to speak with their EDIT( roomsnet company secretary until end of July) she can somehow manage to get through to roomsnet, apparently on the same number that we have all had difficulty getting through to!!!! if she is in a meeting the EDIT might help as he was a director of roomsnet until the end of july. whatever happens be persistent and dont be fobbed off, we got money refunded into bank account within 4 days but it took lots of persistence !!!!!

Re: roomsnet.com warning
I booked two hotels in Spain in March this year. Money was taken from my account and vouchers supplied for accommodation. I arrived at the first hotel in June and was informed the booking had been cancelled that day because of non-payment. Like everyone else, I was unable to get through to their help-line numbers.Eventually, the following day, I was able to make contact with someone in a foreign call centre, who stated that they had had a problem with their American Express payment system. I eventually received a refund, but was still out of pocket with phone charges etc., and the cost difference in paying for the hotel myself.
Before I travelled to the second hotel on 10 September, I called roomsnet booking line and was assured there would be no problem. Silly me! On arriving at the hotel exactly the same problem! Room cancelled - no payment made. Phone calls to the help line again went unanswered, and an e-mail to help@roomsnet.com returned as undeliverable. I eventually left a very terse message and this morning received a phone call from Sri Lanka telling me to be patient as they had to refund hundreds of customers in the same position as me! Does anyone know where this company is actually based, who are the directors etc., and whether they can be trusted with our money?

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Hi all. I arrived in Spain on the 3rd of September and experienced the exact same problem. We arrived at the hotel and our booking had been cancelled. I emailed roomsnet straight away and they said they would process a refund but as yet I am still waiting. I have chased everyday so far. Friday the emailed me back saying they had problems with their accounts department which had delayed the refund but I would definately receive it soon. As yet I am still waiting and now they have stopped replying to my emails.
I have also reported them on watchdog and after seeing all the other complaints on various sites feel this company should be stopped from trading. I have no idea whether I will or won't get my money back. I keep hoping but an not feeling overly optimistic.
Does anyone else have any other update?

Re: roomsnet.com warning
had a phone call this morning from roomsnet(7.45 am) telling me that it was due to a problem with barcleys bank processing payment(i paid in full in july, thats some delay)
and on returning hom i recieved this email.
"Dear Mr Christopher Garvey,
Thank you for your email.
Upon further investigations we have now identified the payments which was sent to our City office of N.Ch Hotel could not be charged due to systems issue by our local agents (Amex cards).
As agreed by our agents we are refunding the full amount of the booking immediately, please allow 7-9 working days for the refunds to appear on your statement.
If you had to pay a higher rate for the booking, please send us the receipts scanned and attached to an email highlighting the extra amount to claim the refund for the difference.
Please accept our apology for any inconvenience caused.
Thank You

Re: roomsnet.com warning
Thanks for the responses. I tried calling EDIT but was conveniently 'in a meeting'. They said she would call me back but never did. Half an hour later though I got a call from roomsnet calling from Sri Lanka saying they no longer had my bank details and could I give it to them again. They also asked for my bank address which I thought was odd?
Anyway 'dirk' said he was taking my details to the accounts department and I would get a full refund so we will see.

Re: roomsnet.com warning
have spoken to mandy and she asked for my details and booking number and i was told she would pass it on to the relevant people. Told me She is annoyed (how does she think the hundreds of people who have booked with them feel?) that people are contacting her at work as she no longer has anything to do with roomsnet(yeah i believe that one) and hasn't since july. When i said if she couldn't help hen i would speak to Dr Silva I was told he was out of the country at the moment (proberbly spending our money) but rest assured he would be hearing all about the many calls she has recieved in regards to rooms net.

I would like to ask all of you on here who have had problems with them to contact the bbc watchdog programme as there are a lot of other forums that i am on where we are doing that. The more people that contact them then the more chance we have of them piking up our cause and getting the help we all want.
