Whats the Difference between a 1M Ethernet and a 10M ethernet?

Would a 1M ethernet be able to have faster, more reliable speeds with less latency than a 10M ethernet cable?

 Does it make a difference?

I'm assuming we're talking length here?

There's no difference in them right upto 100m, past 100m you'll be lucky to get a signal at all.

Unless your 10m cable is causing errors then no

At that short a distance the quality and integrity of the connections and the cable is of vastly more importance that its length.

Obviosuly with the speed of light (and that of electricity being finite) it will make a difference..
But over 9m the difference would be 0.00000003 of a second (That's 30 nanoseconds) so I don't think it's gonna be an issue!!! |

Damn, i thought i knew the answer to this question - 9m! but it seems the question was slightly misleading!! |

That's the sign of true geekdom.. Someone pointing out that because the speed of light is limited, then it will have an effect on broadband speed, and someone else pointing out that the speed of electricity through a co-axial cable is considerably lower.

Theres actually a huge difference, 1m cables look neater, and less prone to turn into spaghetti junction, than 10m ones (which is exactly why I shortened all my cables to the shortest I can get away with).
